Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

Great place as always, bit loud for me as I have a hearing problem but food and service excellent.

Great atmosphere, fantastic food and good service. Peppercorn sauce and bone marrow gravy were delicious with steak.

Great food every time! Service was outstanding, friendly staff. Food was outstanding, arrived in good time even though the restaurant was full. Arrived hot too! Cocktails are gorgeous! Can’t fault anything

It’s the first time I have dined here. Everything is faultless and recommended without reservation. And speaking of reservations when I was present Saturday lunchtime walk in’s were being turned away. Booking looks advisable!

.In the centre of York, a lovely clean environment .The restaurant has plenty of choice and a good variety of food and drinks to choose from .Staff very polite and welcoming .food amazing .the service charge is optional

Steak was beautifully cooked. Burger cooked to perfection. Lemon Meringue baked Alaska superb. Would definitely go again.

We booked the 2 course lunch menu and it was lovely!! All the staff were attentive and Plifford who served us was lovely. I booked it for my husbands birthday, and they mentioned it once we were seated and gave him a birthday card, which was a really nice touch! It is an expensive menu but the lunch menu is well worth it.
