Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

Excellent meal, perfectly cooked steak. The staff were attentive throughout the evening without being overbearing and the service including time you had to wait for drinks was spot on. The restaurant is beautiful with a great atmosphere. Table was ready at the time we booked so did not have to wait which was good. Would highly recommended

Visited the Cut & Craft, York to celebrate my son’s 15th birthday. The service was great, ambience perfect and food delicious. Two of our party members chose the graduation menu. Three courses for £45 including a glass of Prosecco. Not a bad deal to be fair. Choices included main menu choices, not cheaper alternatives. Something that would appeal to all tastes. My son chose the fillet steak. Cooked perfectly to his liking - medium rare. The unexpected touch was a birthday card presented to my son at the start of our dining experience. Very nice - thank you Cut & Craft for making our visit a memorable one.

We enjoyed a really lovely lunch and felt the three courses for £27 was great value. Staff were really pleasant the ambience was lovely, food delicious and overall a great experience.

loved it! The service, food and ambiance were all exceptional. We went to celebrate our anniversary and the hostess gave us a card on arrival, which i thought was a nice touch. We both ordered the fillet steak and when it arrived they had cooked them perfectly. the background music was a little loud but other then that everything else was perfect. We will definitely be going back. Thank you.

Nice restaurant, staff nice but food below average and expensive for what it is. Would not go back again which is a shame
