Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

    The restaurant was lovely nice seating area service was good and attentive the good roast wise was good apart from the soggy Yorkshire pudding and the half head of cabbage with massive stem. Dessert was full of coco powder making it dry and distasteful didnt not enjoy and was a waste of money will not be going back

    Absolutely shocking, held outside for 20 minutes by a bouncer and then a further 25mins in reception before we even made it to a table. The assistant manager, Will was rude and obnoxious, simply not caring about the experience. With this restaurant pitching itself at the higher end, it simply didn't come close on service. The food was OK, but the overall experience was very poor! With so many options available to eat out, pick somewhere where your money is valued.

    Superb quality and very tasty. Flat iron may be the cheapest steak on the menu but was one of the best I've had in a long time.

    Best service ever- very attentive and personal service. Great ambience- waiting area with lamped tables, funky music, flaming grill and has a New York vibe about it. Whole sea bream was delicious. Only issue was my steak was overcooked- I asked for medium well, but it was served like charcoal. Also I found the steak a bit salty - suggest less salt and more mixed peppercorns

    Perfect as always! 10/10! Cannot fault it at all. Perfect service for our coeliac party member. Lovely service, lovely staff, lovely food!
