Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

Lovely staff, the flat iron steak cooked medium was absolutely delicious as this was recommended numerous in reviews we tried it and it did not disappoint. Gorgeous amaretto sour too!

It was our first time at cut and craft it was a present and we really enjoyed it as we are from Nottingham there wasn't there so we came to York for the night and really enjoyed it thanks 😀 again

We got married on Saturday 06 July 2024. Just a small ceremony with family. We booked the cut and craft, as we have been here before on many occasions and it has never disappointed. The table was fabulous you went above and beyond what was expected. The staff were attentive, cheerful and could not do enough for us. The food was as expected it did not disappoint. Thank you all for helping to make our special day just that little bit more.

I had the caesar salad and the chicken was in fillets and tough as old boots. I prefer the chicken to be cooked fresh, be succulent and in pieces on my salad. This was not and for such a simple dish it left me feeling underwhelmed. The menu has changed - no more creamed spinach!! A sad day! However my family enjoyed their steaks and the potato top and bone marrow gravy topped everything in their red meat eating world.

Quite pricey but nice. Wine was good & service was great. Starter was quite big so would go with something smaller if want to enjoy all the sides to go with the steaks
