Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

Our first time at Cut & Craft was an amazing experience. We arrived slightly early and we were seated promptly. However, I asked if there was a different location of the table and the manageress on duty gave us a beautiful corner table. Bosco looked after us and he was very knowledgeable and informative about the menu. Food was delicious and freshly made. My carpaccio was melting in my mouth and the flavour combinations were very interesting & delicious. My wife had the steak & prawns salad and this dish is a super dish! Steak cooked to perfection with big juicy prawns. The salad had a good spicy kick that made it very moorish. All washed down with a perfectly chilled Whispering Angel. Dessert was perfectly presented and the peach sorbet had the perfect acidity to compliment the sweet white chocolate mousse. The meal was never rushed and although the restaurant was busy, the team members were perfectly in tune with the flow of the service. Great team! Overall, I was very pleased I booked Cut & Craft for our night away in York and I would highly recommended it to anyone.

I had rib eye which was good but if not have steak do not go as wife meal was cold

Excellent food and more importantly service- second time we’ve been served by bosco, been here three times now and never a bad meal.

Had great meal for a friends Birthday. Food was really good. Great atmosphere and decor. Staff were very attentive and professional. Will definitely be back. I’ve already recommended to a couple of friends.
