Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

I’ve been to the restaurant before, but my sisters who we’re visiting from Wolverhampton had not. They were very impressed with the style of the restaurant, the attentive staff and the quality of food

Celebrated our anniversary dinner at Cut & Craft in beautiful York. We loved every minute. As soon as we walked in the staff were so welcoming and friendly. The decor is glam yet classy and the background music is so chilled, just fab. The food was excellent, the steak was tasty, juicy and perfectly cooked as was my chicken burger. The fairy mushroom dessert was amazing, honestly a work of art. Have to say a massive shout out to Jamal who went above and beyond to make our night extra special, we’d come back especially just to see him! All in all a great place to eat and celebrate, we loved it.

Excellent service, excellent food, a bit noisy for a romantic dinner for two but throroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Wow from when we walked the door to a lovely reception. To the movement we left this place was exceptional. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the side were also amazing. For Monday night the place was busy but service was still really good I ordered the ribeye medium cooked absolutely bang. Also had the mac and cheese and chips with onion rings and they were also lovely. Pudding even though I never had one as I so full the table next said they were delicious. Highly recommend if in York. Definitely will return in the future❤️

Amazing food, friendly and helpful staff, was a lovely evening, went there for out anniversary and even got a card from the staff. Superb all round.

Although primarily a steakhouse opted for pan fried halibut with crab croquet it was sublime Starters wife had a fine selection of seafood in tempura batter including monkfish Finished off with cheeseboard highly recommend stinking Bishop Would highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to revisit

Fantastic staff! Everyone very friendly and looked after us well. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their meal. My only complaint would be the table (booth) we were seated at was far too small for 6 guests and we had to do a lot of juggling to fit everything on the table.

We went for sirloin steak and chips the steak was as hard to cut and eat, when we told our waiter he basically ignored the fact. Won’t be going back there !!

Lovely place would 100% recommend. The food was gorgeous, really tasty, good portions and nice and fresh. Drinks were really good also, we tried some of the signature cocktails and they were really tasty and fun! Our sever Pete was also great! Few teething issues but they were happy to help, think seats by the kitchen aka fire need to be rethought, we asked to move as it was just toooo hot! We were also asked to move after having the table for only an hour and a half, i think this should be mentioned when you book. Felt very rushed and eager to move us to serve others.
