Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

We came on a Sunday afternoon at 1630 to experience the sharing roast but was unfortunately told there was none left. I opted for the T-bone steak with truffle oil fries, blue cheese sauce and broccoli, my partner had the sirloin with marrow gravy and homemade chips- both were delicious and perfect cooked. The service was perfect and tendered to all of our needs in timely fashion. Would definitely recommend to family and friends when visiting York and will be returning in the future.

Over done beef and frozen roast potatoes....not worth the £26!! Will not be returning or recommending!

Great food. Service was outstanding. Servers helpful with making choices and recommendations. Lots of choices. Some of our party enjoyed being able to watch the steaks being cooked. Beautifully decorated interior.

Restaurant was noise, meat was burnt and over cooked even tho I order medium-rare. Constantly asked if we were finished even tho we still had food on our plate. Then we had to flag someone down to pay. Wont be returning.

Great food, wine and service. A great start to our weekend in York. Our waiter Jamal was so lovely, friendly and helpful.

I had an excellent experience dining at Cut & Craft York to celebrate my anniversary. I was very kindly greeted with a congratulations card. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing and the ambiance was great. I recommend the strawberry margarita!

Great meal from the midday set menu. Fab service and great staff. Steak was lovely as always and desserts were epic!

Enjoyed everything! The meal was beautiful from start to finish. We went to celebrate my birthday and it was really special to have at least three members of staff mention it and say happy birthday plus being handed a handwritten card. What great customer service. Jamal was a lovely member of staff who served us, he helped us choose wine, recommended food and was a smiley, friendly person. He even took notice of when I asked if there was a brownie on the desert menu he said sorry we don’t have that on the menu. Then clearly went to speak to the kitchen and brought out a warm chocolate brownie with ice cream. It was a lovely touch. 10/ 10 would recommend and will return again! Thank you!
