The Crown is an independently run award-winning freehouse in the heart of Hastings Old Town, open at 11am every day. Our kitchen is open 12-4, 5 till 9.
We serve modern British food in a friendly informal environment using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. We create dishes from scratch, including homemade bread, fish from the surrounding seas and seasonal veg.
We serve local real ales & craft beers, wine and a specialist gin and whisky selection and delicious coffee.
'High Top Tables' refers to our high tables with bar stools.
You can book a table for drinks only.
Dogs are welcome, 'paws on the floors' please.
Children welcome, we have a kids menu.
For allergies & intolerances, please let your server know before ordering.
We serve our full menu on a Sunday, but it is not a traditional roast dinner.
Please call us if you are running later than your booked time.
Table bookings for 2 hours for up to 4ppl; 3 hours for 5+ people. Tables from 7pm onwards are for whole evening.

Probably the best food in Hastings. Always to the same high standard. And very fairly priced too.

Tiny leg of roast chicken, very dry and tasteless. Roast potatoes were boiled only and not fully cooked. One small carrot and parsnip. Small round of stuffing and some overcooked cabbage. Gravy had flavour as did the parsnip and carrot. Overall very disappointed. Been many times and the food has always been great. This was awful.

Excellent service, cool venue, great selection of beers and other drinks, food was very good for the price which sounds excessively negative but I mean that it was priced well and if had been more expensive I think you’d expect more. Recommended.

Fantastic meal with our two sausage dogs. The Crown is a lively well run establishment with its focus on food - The Chef really does know how to cook and the portions are very generous. The other highlight was our waitress who was so charming and friendly as well as knowledgeable and kind she is a real asset to this business ❤️

One of our favourite places in Hastings. Real care goes into the food, service is warm and attentive and it’s a cool vibe all time at busy or quieter times.

A lovely pub serving delicious food. Slightly long wait for our order but it was a Saturday night and very busy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A really enjoyable evening.

Great food as always. Had reserved a table for 3:45 for a family meal. On arrival we’re told we only had 15 mins to order as the kitchen was closing - no reference to this when booking the slot. That was our only issue - we felt somewhat rushed.
