We had quite a wait for the food to arrive which probably affected how we felt about eating there. The food was good but if we were in the area again we would chose elsewhere to eat .

My husband got the pie which is normally nice, however he left most of it and said it was dry no flavour and the chips were soaked in fat, Our last visit he tried the pasta dish which was awful , it was like milk poured over pasta not flavour at all I don't think we will return for food However the service is great and the drinks are good

Really well prepared Sunday roast that tasted as good as it looked - staff are as always, attentive and friendly which makes for a nice vibe. Thanks

There isn’t a designated eating area so be aware you might be in the middle of the pub

One waitress was very friendly and the other very rude. The friendly one was very apologetic that she had to tell us on 4 separate occasions that they’d ran out of what we’d ordered and we had to change our order on each occasion. Probably should have said they weren’t doing food if they’d ran out of the majority of the menu as we would have gone elsewhere. Flatbreads were very poor but the burger was very nice and presented well. Nice atmosphere as they were doing a pub quiz so felt quite lively. Lots of parking.

Table was booked for 7 and we arrived on time. Got served drinks fairly quickly but then sat for a while waiting for food order to be taken. We were then informed that the chef had a lot of covers so they were delaying taking our order to let the kitchen catch up. 25 minutes in and a table of four people are seated next to us and five minutes later another server comes to take their order. Our order had still not been taken at this point. Our order was then taken after theirs, our starter arrived around 20 minutes after ordering and our main around 45 minutes after that. Food was good, no complaints whatsoever. We finally left just before 9.30 after having a dessert. The restaurant wasn’t full, there were several empty tables in the area we were seated I just think too many people were booked in for the same time or there wasn’t enough staff in the kitchen.

My second visit to the Cross Keys. The first was great which is why I recommended it for a special meal yesterday. I wish I hadn’t. Downstairs was very noisy and crowded, so we went upstairs. The food was warm but hard: chips and onion rings were inedible because they were solid and hard. We had to hunt for salt and pepper and no other sauces were offered with our meal. I definitely won’t be returning.
