Had the Sunday roast, it would be nice to have the option of chicken on the menu as I find pork, beef and lamb fatty. Roast potatoes had been cooked and kept warm so not crispy. Bi fold doors in barn open so quite draughty and chilly.- left feeling a little underwhelmed today sadly.

The table was great and the setting lovely. We were served very well. The food was beautiful to look at but fell down slightly on the veg but this is only a small part. I love turkey but this was not an option. I personally love stuffing and cauliflower cheese. Staff were very helpful.

Waitress and staff were all lovely. We have a coeliac who they catered for in our party without fuss or saying they can’t be sure if there’s gluten like lots of places. Portions were decent sizes and prices great. The pub is fabulous with stone walls and a garden too. Would highly recommend

Having been a client for seven years, I was somewhat disappointed last night. I hesitate saying acting negative as we like the Cross House so much. But last night only the service was as usual great, the quality of the meals were not I need to be honest, so they can improve and go back to what we have got used to over the years. My flat fish meal was only OK, the French fries were substandard as one gets much better at McDonald's! The fish and chips meal our invited friend had was hugely disappointing. It looked too big, no need for that in a classy place like this pub, the chips were too many, soggy and overcooked. The salmon starter was supposed to have a quail eggb on it, which was missing! Just wasn't the brilliance e were expecting and had told our friends about. Everything else. The ambience, service, table location were all superb, but the meals on the whole were just not the quality we'd got used to. We felt the menu was too limited too. Burgers, steaks and only for other mains. No chicken or pork mains at all. What is going on? Is the chef new?
