After closing for 2 weeks for an interior refurb the pub now has a fresh and clean new look. The creation of a proper snug is part of the change and is available for private hire for small gatherings or family occasions. The rear barn has also undergone refurbishment and is now a wonderful room dating back to the 15th Century with oak beams and flagstone floor folding doors open out on to the rear courtyard and river Stour beyond. The barn forms part of the restaurant but can also be made available for small functions and parties of up to 20 - 25 people.

Five of us dined here on Saturday night. It was a delightful pub with just the right level of noise, and the staff were very efficient and helpful

Excellent Sunday lunch ( Veggie). Very friendly and accommodating staff. A delightful and relaxing pub where you can still hold a conversation without battling with overpowering background noise. Recommended. 😊

Pub was full of character and we were given a choice of where to sit including outside tables. Lovely friendly and welcoming staff, clean and tidy, shown to our chosen table and drinks were brought over. Not rushed to make our order and given time to read through the menu. Great choice of beers, spirits etc and Something for everyone on the menu. We chose the Earl of Sandwich sandwich and the chicken burger with curry sauce. Food was very good, fries cooked perfectly and the chicken was really juicy. Would recommend both dishes.

The first waitress to serve us with the long blonde hair looked as if she didn’t want to be there, she forgot some of our drinks. The second waitress with the brown hair and glasses was far more pleasant and attentive. The roast dinners were good, the cauliflower cheese wasn’t cooked so it was taken off the bill. The deserts were good.

Weve used the Crispin before and we weren't disappointed. The Sunday lunch was a good price and the food was very good with a good portion of meat and vegetables

Very easy to book. Comfortable pleasant pub/restaurant with a very friendly atmosphere. Competent bar staff and truly delicious food. we will definitely return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

Having seen the TV program featuring the American and the Earl of Sandwich sandwich we decided to give the place a try. We were early and ushered into a darkish room, nobody else there and it was drafty. There was plenty of space in the bar area where the atmosphere appeared a little better and was certainly lighter. This was a hot sunny day but didn't feel like it where we were seated. The food was average at best and the "famous" sandwich had cold macaroni cheese. Not warm but cold. The other food choices didn't warrant a high mark either. Very disappointing. The only reason for not giving a lower rating is that the young lady serving us was very polite and friendly.
