After closing for 2 weeks for an interior refurb the pub now has a fresh and clean new look. The creation of a proper snug is part of the change and is available for private hire for small gatherings or family occasions. The rear barn has also undergone refurbishment and is now a wonderful room dating back to the 15th Century with oak beams and flagstone floor folding doors open out on to the rear courtyard and river Stour beyond. The barn forms part of the restaurant but can also be made available for small functions and parties of up to 20 - 25 people.

I’m not really comfortable knocking people running a business so suffice to say our Friday lunch was a below average experience - can’t fault the service but food had that cheap mass catering taste - two course - 2 beers two glasses of wine £75 - not particularly bothered about the cost as more than happy to pay more if we enjoy the vittles but do draw the line when a price is fixed regardless of the quality - very sorry but will not be returning - I wouldn’t even bother reviewing but have received this prompt to do so

We had Sunday roast beef dinner. Beef was very difficult to cut. Vegetables & yorkshires good. Service good but food took about 45 mins to get to the table after ordering. Waitress was helpful & apologised re the beef & did give us a reduction on the bill.

Great service, lovely food and really accommodating to our family which included a baby who needed a high chair. Highly recommend the fish finger sandwich - the best I have ever had!

Our reservation was at 1-30 to have a lovely sunday lunch for my daughter's birthday treat only to find out all roast dinners was all gone and would'nt be any more for an hour, the lunch time menu was very limited, i ended up with liver and bacon as there was only fish dishes or burgers my daughter ended up with a cheese board for sunday lunch (not good). I was given the wrong drink and my daughters was spilt over the table we would of stayed for pudding and another drink to make our afternoon out but left feeling upset and very disappointed.

Five of us dined here on Saturday night. It was a delightful pub with just the right level of noise, and the staff were very efficient and helpful

Excellent Sunday lunch ( Veggie). Very friendly and accommodating staff. A delightful and relaxing pub where you can still hold a conversation without battling with overpowering background noise. Recommended. 😊

Pub was full of character and we were given a choice of where to sit including outside tables. Lovely friendly and welcoming staff, clean and tidy, shown to our chosen table and drinks were brought over. Not rushed to make our order and given time to read through the menu. Great choice of beers, spirits etc and Something for everyone on the menu. We chose the Earl of Sandwich sandwich and the chicken burger with curry sauce. Food was very good, fries cooked perfectly and the chicken was really juicy. Would recommend both dishes.
