We are open!
The area's premier scenic dining experience is located at Apple Canyon Lake in the heart of Jo Daviess County and is open to the public. The only restaurant in the area with a lakefront location, The Cove provides a unique dining experience which combines spectacular beauty and a delicious menu prepared by Chef Michael Roellich.

We are no longer accepting reservations. Seating is first come, first served. Thank you!

We had reservations for two Saturday evening, 5:15pm. We arrived on time and were seated by Lilly at a table by the windows lakeside. Kylie was our waitress who greeted us promptly. She took our drink order (Maker’s and 7up and Bourbon lemonaide slush), also our appetizer, the spinach dip. They were served in 5 minutes or so. After we finished the appetizer, she took our entre’ order around 6pm (prime rib and shrimp melon). We then waited until 720pm (yes! 7:20) and no food. I spoke with manager Christina who then got the kitchen to prepare our meal for service. I appreciate that our meal was “comped”, I tipped Kylie on a $95 check ($20) she was VERY good but the kitchen took WAY too long to get the food out. That was just an unacceptable wait for the food to come out of the kitchen. The cooks must learn to prepare several meals at the same time, not one at a time.

First time to The Cove this season and very happy with all the changes. We had the nachos supreme appetizer and it was delicious. Enjoyed the special, Porcini Ravioli, excellent! We will be back!

Drinks were fine within the area's cost and tasted good. Still a very limited menu with a few items that they had run out of. Too many places in area that have better meals.

We were disappointed that most of the food was gone or unavailable at 1:30pm. No omelettes, no other breakfast foods, etc. Fortunately the staff was accommodating and a pleasure to work with. I really want to see the Cove be a success and a "destination" restaurant for people. Please try harder.

I knew going out to a restaurant for Mothers Day not to expect perfection but we did not get what we paid for. It was a set price per person for the buffet but most of the items were out so we did not get to eat what we paid for! They were even out of tea!!! Our made to order omelette was so small and not even good. I think it was a one egg omelette and they were probably low on those too. The server could not explain to us why. She was probably not being told by management. The view of the lake was nice and the hostess did a great job. Those are my only 2 complements.

Great service by Diana abd French toast was excellent- mimosas could have used more Prosecco 😜

Was so great to see Cove and full house! Food was fantastic and everyone seemed very friendly . Staff did a great job eve though there were not enough servers for the business brunch crowd
