In 2004, The Coup opened its doors to Calgary and surrounding areas with the desire to provide a modern vegetarian restaurant to the community. Since then we have been dedicated to delivering a vibrant atmosphere and creative vegetarian fare. Our products have been selected based on a deep desire to support local, make everything from scratch, and celebrate the community we are in.

Our bar program has a strong cocktail focus, with great partners who have aligned ethical and ecologically sustainable practices. We focus on local brewers and distillers, and strive to curate a cocktail menu that focuses on ingredients that are local, flavourful, and unique. We strongly believe that the experience of dining, or enjoying cocktails isn’t only for those who drink alcohol. As such, all of our cocktails are available in a non-alcoholic format, as well as a large compliment of other zero-proof offerings.

This was my first time at The Coup. The waitress was lovely. I loved the different flavours and textures even though it’s vegetarian…I was pleasantly surprised.

Great venue, great menu! My husband loved his sandwich and crispy potatoes. My Drunken Noodles were good but very spicy! I would’ve liked an option for heat. I’ll know next time to inquire about heat levels.

Enjoyed very much. It was the first time back in a while. A couple of years ago we thought the restaurant was not doing a super job but we have been long time devotees so we thought we would try again. Very happy with the offerings.

We started off with Matt’s dumplings and they are absolutely amazing!!!!! I could go and eat three orders of those alone. My husband and I are not vegetarians but do go meatless a couple of times a week and just moved into the arena so we wanted to give coup a try. We both had the bowls which were fantastically flavourful and shared the chocolate torte dessert which was outstanding. We will be back - special thanks to the great staff working Thursday night - all attentive and Matt personally delivered his Matt dumplings to us !! A special touch 😀

The Coup is a Calgary institution for all, not just for plant based folks. I have been going here for years, and while the classics remain, the restaurant is always evolving their menu. A must visit in a vibrant community. A must visit.

Took advantage of the lunch deal (small appetizer and one main for $25) - food was hot, delicious, full of flavour, great deal for the lunch special! Server, Nikita, was attentive, knowledgeable and so friendly! Will be back!
