The Cotswold Guy, born out of bespoke private cheffing using the finest British ingredients, offers heart-warming hospitality and high-quality food and beverage produce across its farm shops, restaurant, café, online shop and catering & events service. Based across the length and breadth of the Cotswolds, we provide quality, locally-sourced ingredients and dishes, inspired by elevating the much-loved British Classics, to our ever-growing base of loyal and repeat clients.

The Cotswold Guy, Gagingwell (near Chipping Norton), is our latest opening, giving guests the opportunity to eat in or takeaway. We have all of the old TCG favourites, as well as some outstanding new additions!

Serving breakfast and lunch everyday, we are also pleased to offer Friday Pizza Day & Saturday Steak & Lobster Nights

                    Made a reservation and stopped in for lunch. Service was friendly and attentive. Had a rack of ribs and a hotdog with slaw and truffle fries. Ribs fell off the bone and were well smoked. Very enjoyable meal and conversations with the staff.

                    A wonderful place to visit with great food and great staff. Being from out of town the Manager came and chatted for a while giving us a ton of ideas.

                    I wish I’d read reviews before rather than booking after seeing a TikTok. The food was nothing to write home about, there were 4 tables around us and every single table complained several times about their orders being wrong. We waited over an hour for 2 hot dogs which were promised to be amazing by the man with the moustache and they were honestly nothing amazing for the price. Granted the scotch egg was yummy and the yolk was beautifully orange. Apart from that we had to ask several times for ketchup and cutlery. Communication between staff was awful and they all seemed a bit dim and spent half their time apologising to everyone. Honestly it’s a shame cause it looks great but the kitchen needs to sort it out and so do management. Bit of a shambles really won’t be returning.

                    I booked a table for Father’s Day 6 weeks ago. On arrival there were 4 empty tables but my booking had been put at the bar seats. Where there was no reserved sign. Then we got put outside and then moved onto another armchair low table inside with not enough seats. It made no sense! There were 4 empty tables and I had booked. They blamed Open Table 3rd party. We had our drinks, a beer in a squash class and left. The summer menu was ridiculous £80 for a steak and £40 for beef which a few weeks ago I had and paid £24. The manager tried to keep us but unfortunately this was my parents first time at the Cotswold guy and first impressions mean everything. From a customers perspective it made no sense and they were saving tables for more important people or family I’m guessing. I booked 6 weeks prior and was made to feel like a walk in. Despite this, I have been twice before and have been really impressed. Bring back Sunday dinners.

                    We had booked well in advance for Father’s Day and on arrival gave our name to be told we weren't booked, after checking it was found that we had already been booked in and someone else was on our table so after a few minutes of to-ing and fro-ing we were allocated a table right by the door which was draughty but with the door shut it was too hot for people on the middle tables. We were expecting & looking forward to Sunday roasts as that was what the website and open table menu was - wellingtons and roasts but the menu had actually changed and was a selection of burgers, ribs, and chicken salad and some specials. We orders some drinks and we’re given cans and a bottle of lager but no glasses or a bottle opener, it was very busy so getting attention took a while. When we did flag someone down we asked if roasts were on and the waiter said he didn’t know and that he had no idea. We waited a bit longer, it was very busy and there were lots of staff but no-one seemed to have any purpose or really know what they should be doing it just seemed quite shambolic. feeling quite disappointed after looking forward to a roast dinner and the lack of service we decided to leave - a manager then suddenly appeared and tried to talk us into staying. His manner was quite passive aggressive but he did convince us to stay in the end. We had the porterhouse steak on the specials board, the chicken Caesar salad and burrata with tomatoes, it was all absolutely delicious and amazing, we were glad we stayed! Overall impression is that the staff although friendly were very unorganised and need to be much better managed & informed on menus and ingredients. The food is amazing and we would definitely go back.

                    Great food and friendly staff but not quite as polished as you’d expect for the area, and other similarly-marketed competitors. One gets the feeling that this is a venture based on the quality of food and cooking (which it does deliver in spades) but is a little green in terms of management and service. The loos need to be addressed, and simple things like signposting that they were closed and adjusting for the disabled loo being used properly by ensuring additional hand soap etc would have made a big difference. Minor details like rinsing the glasses properly so they don’t have a soapy residue would have improved the experience from being good to excellent. The service was a little disorganised. I suspect they may have been unexpectedly short-staffed but doing their very best to manage everything. The staff were charming so it really wasn’t a problem for us but it may be for others so I whilst I will definitely go back, I will filter my audience when recommending it, and I’d be careful to choose guests to bring with me.

                    I took my 92 year old mother to a pizza friday lunch; the staff were unbelievably good at accommodating us. Comfy seat, noise level , temperature were all set to her needs. The food was delicious. We live overseas, but she will be back!
