Welcome to The Consulate!
Located on the Upper West Side, the restaurant features a French American menu which includes brunch favorites; blueberry cast iron pancakes, classic eggs benedict and beet and gin cured salmon. Dinner features sumptuous short rib cavatelli, perfectly seared steaks, roasted herb chicken and locally sourced seafood dishes such as seared branzino, scallop tartare with crispy shallots, and perfectly prepared octopus and mussels.

                                                    Went for our anniversary brunch and we were (mostly) delighted with the experience. The food was excellent and our server was delightful and professional; she was even able to replace a drink that we didn't like at no charge. Lots of enticing options on the menu. We will definitely return. The only downside was the noise level inside. Fortunately for us, the restaurant was not crowded when we arrived so we were able to change tables to a quieter spot and we had a lovely time.

                                                    4 of us: 2 had the Croque Monsieur which they said was good and very cheesy; 1 had a burger & fries he enjoyed; I had the Tuna Sandwich & fries and that was very good, fresh seared tuna filet on nice toasted bread, lettuce + tomato and nicely crisp fries, a ++ in my book. Our server Peter J was pleasant, polite and attentive. Only drawback was the noise level -even on a Tues at 1:30p - very loud probably because the high ceilings were tin and there was no sound buffer material used anywhere. It made for a lovely décor, but no sound attenuation. It did quiet down near the end of our meal, around 2:15p when many tables cleared out.

                                                    We have been regulars at the Consulate since moving to the UWS. We liked to think of it as our "go to neighbor place". However, they've raised prices 2x in the last year. The 1st price raise we chalked up to inflation. But another raise in the last couple of weeks is insulting and frankly, charging $30 for a burger and $24 for a salad is bordering on ridiculous. As much as I enjoy your restaurant, your food and experience does not garner prices like this. We will be looking for a new go-to place. Poor business decision on your part.

                                                    Solid, but unspectacular. Service alternated between hovering and un-attentive. Food was good, although the chicken was slightly dry and needed more sauce.

                                                    The worst meal on the upper west side that I have ever had…. and vastly, vastly overpriced. The only thing that was any good was their cocktail. My son, a chef, who always believes in giving restaurants a second try said he would never go back. Very disappointed.

                                                    Service was terrific for brunch. We enjoyed the avocado toast (with bacon) and the Nutella waffles. Price is a bit high but a good voice for brunch. Would go back.

                                                    The food is always good here ! Can’t go wrong! Service very attentive …dessert was lovely, the lava cake…goat cheese pizza and kale salad…with chicken…the inky thing, I was surprised the chicken wasn’t on the salad…it was jaunt a lovely evening…even though it was raining a little. We were under the awning…go..it has a great mbiance on the Avenue..
