There are a wide variety of restaurants in Ludlow, but Clive Arms stands out if you want traditional British food that makes the most of Ludlow’s local ingredients.

Our food is inspired by the seasonal produce of Shropshire and our surrounding counties. Many of our ingredients are handmade at Ludlow Farmshop. Our meat is reared in the fields surrounding us on the Earl of Plymouth’s Oakly Park Estate and is prepared by the award winning butchers at Ludlow Farmshop

Please note, we do add a 12.5% discretionary service charge onto the bill for groups of six or more.

Visited for Sunday lunch, family of 4, it was very busy. Had to wait for our table although we arrived bang on time. First time at The Clive. Service was slow and rather haphazard and we had to ask for menus, drinks etc. Sadly we didn't really feel particularly well-looked after. It should have been better. Food-wise...beef Sunday roasts were really excellent. Pasta dishes were a little spicier than expected but good. My marmalade Bakewell tart I found very disappointing - the marmalade was v bitter and the Bakewell tart was cold and tasted as though a bottle of almond essence had accidentally been added instead of a few drops. After a couple of mouthfuls I couldn't eat any more. We had 1 other dessert which was fine and cheese - again fine. This was our last meal after lovely 4 day break in Ludlow. I would like to give it a higher rating but service in particular needs to improve significantly.

I was brought a teapot of tea but no milk, there was too much sweet stuff, not enough savoury. Nobody came back in nearly 2 hours to see if everything was OK and we weren't offered more tea in that time, and they started sweeping up round us at the end

Dear Lorraine, I'm sorry to hear that you did not fully enjoy your experience with us for Afternoon Tea. In terms of the food - our 'traditional' does consist of the classic finger sandwiches, scone, and a selection of sweet treats. However, for those that do not have a sweet tooth, we have another version which is entirely savoury. With this - we can do a combination of the two which we have named our 'couples' afternoon tea. I will speak to the members of staff in regards to the service you received as it definitely wasn't up to our usual high standards! We do usually do a few checkbacks during the afternoon tea and I will ensure that the clean up happens once everyone has vacated the restaurant. We do hope you will visit us again soon. We met with old friends for lunch. The staff were professional and friendly. They were equally patient as we had a lot to talk about and so we’re slow to order! The food quality was excellent- fresh ingredients and well cooked. Our second visit in six months. Will definitely return.

Excellent food and good value for money. Really love this place. Staff friendly although service was a little slow today - they were quite busy. Would not hesitate to come back here.

All the food was excellent again, the fig, feta cheese and pecan nut starter was excellent as was the tiger prawn penne for main course and my husbands terrine and lamb looked equally good.

Previouly regulars, who had stopped eating here, it was sheer joy to return to what is now an imaginative menu and superb food served in delightful surroundings. At last, a management and chef who know what they are doing! We will certainly be back. Thank you.

We had a lovely meal to celebrate our one week anniversary of being married. Food was outstanding and service was great and attentive, couldn’t fault our experience overall.
