Once known as the “skyscraper” of its day, the historic Germania Hall building, built in 1878, in downtown Wooster is now home to The City Square Steakhouse.

Award-winning chef Mike Mariola and wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse in 2008. City Square promises a dining experience you’d expect from a big city while maintaining its historic small-town charm, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Steakhouses in America.

The City Square Steakhouse is proud to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef products for all steaks and burgers. In addition to steaks, seafood, and other entrees, the inimitable flavor and delicacy of Butter Cake – City Square’s signature dessert – is truly the “cherry on top” of the City Square experience.

Great food and service. We are quiet people and so we asked for a quiet table where the two of us could celebrate my 70th birthday. They sat us at a nice, quiet table and then moments later sat four, loud mouth businessmen immediately next to us. This is not the first time this has happened to us there. Apparently there is no place in the restaurant where one can sit in relative peace and quiet to enjoy a meal. If you like loud restaurants, this is a great place for you.

Went out for New Years Eve dinner and had a wonderful experience. I could have cried the pork belly was so good. My steak was cooked perfect. My wife loved hers and her mash potato’s were amazing. I wish I could get all my steaks city square style. Our service was wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Such amazing food and service. We live in the Columbus area, and this by far exceeds what we have available there. We will be back!

I brought my mom to this restaurant while we were visiting her over the holidays. We had eaten here before & had a good experience, so we decided to go back. This time, out seating was in a space of the restaurant that is set up as a breezeway when the weather is nicer. For December, the space was enclosed & we were kept warm with gas heaters, but still felt a chill now & again when one someone used a nearby door to the outside. For an appetizer, we shared the spinach & artichoke dip, which was really good. For the entree, we all got steaks - most had the petit filet, but one person had the bone-in ribeye & I had the NY strip. The steaks were cooked perfectly, however the consensus opinion was that the steaks were salted too much during cooking. Nobody had room for dessert so we skipped that course. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, and was always gracious to us. Overall, it was another pleasant experience, though if we return we'll need to make sure to request lighter salting of the steaks prior to cooking.
