Once known as the “skyscraper” of its day, the historic Germania Hall building, built in 1878, in downtown Wooster is now home to The City Square Steakhouse.

Award-winning chef Mike Mariola and wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse in 2008. City Square promises a dining experience you’d expect from a big city while maintaining its historic small-town charm, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Steakhouses in America.

The City Square Steakhouse is proud to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef products for all steaks and burgers. In addition to steaks, seafood, and other entrees, the inimitable flavor and delicacy of Butter Cake – City Square’s signature dessert – is truly the “cherry on top” of the City Square experience.

This is a fine dining experience. The steaks are excellent and the service outstanding. Plan to relax and not be in a hurry.

We travel from Sugarcreek approximately 4 times a year and love the atmosphere, the food is usually excellent. Especially the steaks . Last night the food had the same great taste . However it was served luke warm instead of hot. I ordered the catch of the day which was also good , not hot . I let the waiter know that I am gluten free, which I I think he assumed it was . However I don’t believe he advised the chef that I am gluten free. As I said the flavors were excellent. However the serving food temperature was not. Respectfully, Laura

We waited an hour and a half for a steak dinner and seafood pasta. The steak was overdone, waitress offered to have it recooked but we declined- it was such a long wait and one person would have been eating alone. The seafood pasta had bits of seafood very overcooked. Cute place and the waitress did her best.

The atmosphere and service were excellent. The seafood bisque was superb. Wedge salads were OK. My medium rare filet was much more on the medium side. The NY Strip special was plated on top of some creamy mashed sweet potatoes which made it hard to cut and imparted a strong taste of the seasoning that was in the potatoes. Cheesecake was very good. Coffee was not hot enough.

Sam is an exceptional waiter. He was friendly, attentive, professional, and very timely. We were seated right away. Soon we were enjoying delicious artichoke dip and chips, great wine and perfectly cooked NY Strip. Our 35th wedding anniversary dinner was perfect in every way. The thoughtful "Happy Anniversary " sign at our table and the complimentary dessert complete with candle was very thoughtful and delicious, too. Thank you all.

What a beautiful building, atmosphere, architecture and was so cozy! Streaks beyond delicious! We celebrated a 60th anniversary in the family. Couldn’t have had a better experience. The 45 minute drive was well worth it! Would definitely go back! Last but not least our server was exceptional! Thank you.

We went after church for our anniversary. Service was great and food was outstanding. Anniversary was noted by all staff and they brought a special treat at the end of the meal.

This place is amazing. The food was amazing. Our server Ashleigh from California was the absolute best. We will be back. It’s a 45 minute drive but it’s worth it. It was our Anniversary and we got a free desert
