Once known as the “skyscraper” of its day, the historic Germania Hall building, built in 1878, in downtown Wooster is now home to The City Square Steakhouse.

Award-winning chef Mike Mariola and wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse in 2008. City Square promises a dining experience you’d expect from a big city while maintaining its historic small-town charm, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Steakhouses in America.

The City Square Steakhouse is proud to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef products for all steaks and burgers. In addition to steaks, seafood, and other entrees, the inimitable flavor and delicacy of Butter Cake – City Square’s signature dessert – is truly the “cherry on top” of the City Square experience.

This was our first visit to City Square Steakhouse. We took my wife here for her birthday. Everyone thought their food was excellent. The service from host, waitress to manager was superb. We will be back soon. Thanks for the great experience!

We loved sitting out on the enclosed patio and our server was terrific. Food was delicious, loved the cheesecake!

We visited this restaurant in October 2024 and everything was divine. We returned March 2025 and ordered almost the exact order and the food was just not that good. Steal was salty, bistro salad that once had all kinds of goodies on it was no just spring mix with pistachios (which one daughter hurt her tooth on a shell), the baked potato was dry, and the salmon was flavorless. Not sure what changed within the restaurant but we were disappointed. The service and ambience were still wonderful. With so many wonderful restaurants in Wooster, we are not sure we will be visiting City Square Steakhouse for our next trip but if we do we really hope it returns to the same food we had last fall.

Great steak ! Our truffle fries & calamari were cold but my dinner was excellent. The manager asked us and I was nervous to complain or be a Karen but for the price, you must be honest because it is not cheap to dine there. We were waiting on our checks and we got desserts and it was on the house. I really appreciate the manager understanding that I wasn’t trying to be mean or malicious in anyway by letting them know that things were cold but he made it right and it made me feel really good And all of the guests as well. I will be back. They have great steak. Our waitress was phenomenal all in all. It was a great night.

Great food, filet mignon done to perfection, short ribs outstanding and tasty sides. Good service to top it off.

When making Our Reservation I had asked for a single Red Rose to be on the table in the special request box as it was Our Anniversary, upon arrival no Rose and it was a table set for 4 so they had to remove the 2 extra place settings, the food was just okay and to have a 4.00 upcharge for a caesar over a garden salad is crazy. Overall it was just average for the Price thanks

Delmonico was over seasoned, sent it back. Service was very good. The other items were very good. Bartenders were off the hook, very excellent.
