Welcome to The Chequers, Hainford | Country Pub & Dining Room | We're opening on the 17th June. Come back soon to see our new menu, crafted by Executive Chef Pete Murrell and his team.

Nestled in the Norfolk village of Hainford, you’ll find beautiful, exposed beams, authentic stone floors and open fire places inside this 18th Century thatched country pub & dining room.

A country pub through and through serving local ales, artisan spirits and a menu full of the best seasonal produce curated by Executive Chef Pete Murrell and his team. This is all underpinned by our focus on creating great experiences, an escape from everyday life, whether you’re are with us for a quick drink or dining with friends and family.

I’ll start with Tracey who served us all night. She was fantastic, great sense of humour, friendly and very approachable. I was unsure which ale I wanted, so Tracey allowed me to taste both, again excellent service. Three of us had the fish and chips, which for just under £16 was great value, everything was cooked to perfection. The other member of the group had the duck which was one of the best she’d ever had. Price wise it’s about average, but given the experience it was worth every penny. I look forward to returning ASAP

Absolutely delicious meals and extremely good value for money! Decent sized portions, nice choice and the area itself is beautiful. We’ll most definitely go back again.

Staff polite.Food nice but we sat by the window and the ledge had dead flies on it and it was very dusty It put me off my meal slightly I did mention it when we were leaving

Very slow in getting food, but waiting staff were lovely. One meal was cold and not cooked properly. So while we had finished our meal, this member was only just getting their meal. This meal was definitely overpriced considering it wasn’t even cooked properly.

The pub has nice external seating and the decor is quite nice inside although too dark through to the back , lighting needs changing . Some tables are packed in too tight . Menu is quite varied . But our food was very hit and miss , the plate of gnocchi was so dark and very salty . The tenderloin plate was very underwhelming . The pork belly also looked like it could do with a sauce . The fish and chips were nice and large . Meals took a long while to come out considering place not busy . Bar staff need to be trained on the practice of “ the perfect pour “ !! Gin served very underwhelming . Melted slithers of ice , a sorry piece of fruit or nothing at all . Buy in ice if you can’t make big cubes . Find other things for drinks for gin , raspberries , cucumber , or just decent wedges of lemon . The toilets really need looking at , very grim . The back of the door on the way out was filthy . They let the place down . Not sure we would return for dinner . But might use it as a pub for light lunch .

The only thing that I wasn’t keen on were the roast potato’s as they seemed like the sort you buy frozen from a supermarket as they were hard in the middle and some not crispy and some were really hard I struggled to put a knife through it, and the stuffing was too peppery so it was spicey
