Welcome to The Chequers, Hainford | Country Pub & Dining Room | We're opening on the 17th June. Come back soon to see our new menu, crafted by Executive Chef Pete Murrell and his team.

Nestled in the Norfolk village of Hainford, you’ll find beautiful, exposed beams, authentic stone floors and open fire places inside this 18th Century thatched country pub & dining room.

A country pub through and through serving local ales, artisan spirits and a menu full of the best seasonal produce curated by Executive Chef Pete Murrell and his team. This is all underpinned by our focus on creating great experiences, an escape from everyday life, whether you’re are with us for a quick drink or dining with friends and family.

Limited choice for vegetarian. Unable to eat burger as smothered in relish despite request to leave out. Chunky chips not chunky. Some dishes not brought out (side salad, dessert, had to be asked for) and general quality of meals not to previous standard. However staff apologetic and did not charge for burger meal and gave complimentary coffees. Just disappointing as husbands birthday and he could not eat his meal.

Very pleasant birthday lunch at the Chequers. Be prepared for a menu biased towards game, eg pigeon, rabbit, venison, pheasant. I found the choice a bit limiting as I'm not a game fan (especially the starters) and if I'd known in advance, we might not have gone. However, my husband loved his venison so that was good. Desserts were fine; I had orange and cranberry meringue pie but I like my meringue with a crispy shell, this was completely soft. All in all, very nice but not overwhelming. We were very impressed with service from Daniel, who seemed to be running it single handed!

had a lovely meal, the food was served lovely and hot and was displayed very nicely on the plate, he gravy came in a jug to allow you add what you wanted. Being a Wednesday it was a quiet evening and the pub wa quiet. The waitress service was very good. A complete contrast to the meal we had a few weeks ago.

My food was very good, both courses, however my wife's main was poor. She sent back the pheasant as it had an odd, unpleasant taste. This was replaced by the chicken ballotine which was so dry we brought it home for the dog. Both meal choices were from the Norfolk Restaurant Week menu. The menu choices were interesting and sounded good but we're not executed properly. Our experience here was vastly improved by the lovely young waitress Brooke, who is an asset to The Chequers. She was absolutely brilliant, especially in what turned out to be a busy service, nothing was too much trouble and she has a lovely smile and demeanour throughout. Thank you Brooke !

Excellent place for a Sunday lunch. Very good selection of vegetables with the beef and Yorkshire pudding. Desserts were scrumptious. Staff very friendly and attentive but not too much, we will definitely be eating there again

Good friendly pub Sunday Lunch was put onto plate with everything could be separated for a bit more finesse.

Our third time eating here & as before, we were not disappointed. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere accompanied by delicious food. Some advertised choices were no longer available, but their replacements did not disappoint. My main course of Skate was very generous & piping hot, taken instead of Dover Sole. There is a varied menu here whether dining during Norfolk restaurant fortnight or generally which makes a welcome change.

Excellent food taken from the Norfolk Restaurant Week menu. Our server was very professional and personable. Overall a lovely visit.
