Welcome to The Chequers, Hainford | Country Pub & Dining Room | We're opening on the 17th June. Come back soon to see our new menu, crafted by Executive Chef Pete Murrell and his team.

Nestled in the Norfolk village of Hainford, you’ll find beautiful, exposed beams, authentic stone floors and open fire places inside this 18th Century thatched country pub & dining room.

A country pub through and through serving local ales, artisan spirits and a menu full of the best seasonal produce curated by Executive Chef Pete Murrell and his team. Overcharged, tried to explain several times that they had overcharged us but they insisted the till was right so we ended up paying over the odds. Food was lovely and the staff were friendly (had to wait for ages to order though). None of us will be going back though because of the bill situation.

Arrived at 13.20 for a table boked for 13.30. Greeted on arrival and sat at table. Took about 10 minutes for a drink to arrive. Placed food order after about 15 minutes of arrival and had to ask a waiter at at 14.20 if we were going to be served the food we had ordered. A waitress then came back to us and said that our order would soon be with us. I assumed it was the landlord who then came a few minutes later and apologise saying they had just had a rush of orders. We received our food about 1 hour and 15 minutes after arriving in the pub, my meal was lovely and hot but my friend had to send hers back as the roast dinner was cold. We ordered dessert both of which were very nice but it took a whole 2 hours to get served. The waiting staff didn't appear rushed off their feet, it seemed to be a problem with the food coming out of the kitchen in good time. really sad as we had previously been to the pub and it was good service with good food.

Excellent pub. Food is really good, service from friendly staff. Not noisy and on the occasions we have used it , there were plenty of tables. We used it several times over the last fortnight.

A lovely little country pub for Sunday Lunch. Food was delicious, well cooked, veg was perfect. Flavour on the chicken was superb. Would recommend to anyone. Staff lovely and attentive.

I’ll start with Tracey who served us all night. She was fantastic, great sense of humour, friendly and very approachable. I was unsure which ale I wanted, so Tracey allowed me to taste both, again excellent service. Three of us had the fish and chips, which for just under £16 was great value, everything was cooked to perfection. The other member of the group had the duck which was one of the best she’d ever had. Price wise it’s about average, but given the experience it was worth every penny. I look forward to returning ASAP

Absolutely delicious meals and extremely good value for money! Decent sized portions, nice choice and the area itself is beautiful. We’ll most definitely go back again.
