Since 2006, multi award winning chef Steven Sanderson has been delighting his customers with a beautiful selection of delicious dishes that offer traditional values with a modern twist.

Come and relax within our 400 year old inn beneath the ancient beams, and enjoy your meal in contemporary decor near an open fire that burns throughout the year.

We opened 9 new boutique rooms in 2019 and these, together with the restaurant, means that The Chequers at Burcot in South Oxfordshire is perfect for those looking for a getaway, a staycation or accommodation for a business trip.

Visiting from California, this is our 2nd Sunday lunch here. Excellent food - coukd not finish it all ! Delicious desserts

Our first time visiting today for our wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. One of the best roast dinners we’ve ever had. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Thank you for the card- a lovely touch. I’m sure we will be returning again soon!

Food was excellent, service was fantastic, attentive but without overkill. The anniversary card and mini dessert were a kind and lovely touch. Highly recommend for that special meal out.

Food was absolutely delicious. I had the lamb rump and it melted in the mouth. Easy to find and park, recommended

Pleasantly surprised… just the right mix of exceptionally good food and service well priced. Could easily have been pretentious… but is certainly not .. Will certainly return!

Very pleasantly surprised, I was expecting an up market kind of snobbish restaurant. How wrong was I. It was down to earth, friendly, welcoming and very nice. The welcome was friendly and chatty, the service was perfect and with a smile and quick chat. Finally able to put a face to the head chef, whose catch phrase is to “put the fun back on the plate”, and that is exactly what it was like, it was a fun and nice place to eat. The price is no different to eating anywhere else in the county, for the service, experience and tasty food this place is a must. You cannot go wrong eating here, I will most definitely be returning.

Fabulous Restaurant with fantastic Staff and Excellent Food. This was for my birthday and I would not choose anywhere else in UK. My wife who is Coeliac was very well catered for indeed. We cannot recommend this Restaurant more. We cannot wait to return to eat Steve's food and be served by ALL his great team. Thanks to all.

2nd visit in 2 weeks and we weren't disappointed! Probably the best rib eye steak I have eaten - it certainly couldn't have been much better. All the other dishes our party had were tip-top too, as were the beer and wines. Another shout out to Kim for fabulous service as well - can't wait to go back again!
