Below average Sunday roast. Yorkshire’s not fresh. Tony portion of meat, hard roast potatoes but good veg. . Not great handling of allergy. Slow service. Lacks massively for the £50 price tag! Shame as beautiful setting and could be outstanding.

Our fourth visit to The Chapel. Previous visits were wonderful - this time not so much. We knew it wasn't going to be a smooth meal when we entered the bar. Quite busy but it was clear the barman couldn't cope. There were other staff coming and going behind the bar but nothing seemed to be coordinated. Eventually received our drinks but given sweet instead of dry wine. Had to wait again to get these changed. Went through to the restaurant and approached by a rather frosty maitre de. Nice table but service was extremely slow. The staff were running around everywhere but there simply weren't enough of them. Starters of crab were tasty but just about a mouthful. Two of our guests had fillet steaks which they very much enjoyed. I had chicken which was tough and dry. Fourth guest had pork which was OK. Then sat around for ages again waiting for plates to be cleared and desert menus. Gave up waiting in the end. Went and paid the bill at the bar as it would have taken an age to get it at the table. It is an amazing venue but the service and quality of food did not justify the £250 bill for two courses. It's a shame because we really bigged it up to our guests beforehand. We won't be going back. On a final point I am not sure what the dress code for this quite exclusive restaurant is. People in scruffy t-shirts and shorts and track suits. We certainly felt over dressed.

Underwhelmed on entering, not as described, no light show. Restaurant lacked atmosphere and could have done with some subtle lighting or even candles on the tables. Food and drink was ok but not a lot of choice and overpriced. Food arrived quickly once ordered but never checked if everything was ok or if we wanted more drinks. When they eventually came to remove the plates, they never cleared them all or offered us pudding. We gave up and asked for the bill, which arrived very quickly! We had hoped for an extra special meal as it had been for our 30th anniversary, which had been noted on the booking but not mentioned.

Eating in the Chapel is an experience when you think back to its prior use in history, our service was initially slow as they had lost our order but was soon rectified and we enjoyed a very good meal with a complimentary drink as an apology.

Decorated lovely , a little soulless with only another 10 guests in room . Long waits between courses , food and drink overpriced . Empty left tables not cleared after guests left , over 20minutes and still not cleared in various locations around room . Dissapointjng really

Table service was sporadic. For the cost, the food was average. My first visit and totally disappointed.

We had a voucher for Sunday lunch and the Chapel did not disappoint! An excellent menu & superb food with really good service. Would definitely recommend.

Sadly, nothing special anymore. We used to come here for special occasions but the standard of both the service and the food was really disappointing. I would now describe it as‘Perfectly adequate’ No more.

There was nothing massively wrong with the experience but.... Food was good but only good, very small portions so you expect to be wowed with flavour and at prices just short if Michelin star you expect more. Also the same jus was used for a chicken and a lamb dish?? Odd. Drinks options lacking. No beer at all only bottled fruit cider due to a draught issue. Room was very hot, we were sweating after being there for 5 mins, makes sense in winter but not in august. All in all not enough to complain but I wouldn't return soon.
