We stayed on 21st June. The food was amazing. However the service from staff was very poor across the board. Not very welcoming when we entered. We had booked as we stayed at the hotel. Was asked 3 times if we wanted water on the table, which we said yes to every time. Waiter was halfway through taking our order when he went to run food to another table. The service didn't reflect the price tag on the bill . A complete contrast to the breakfast in the morning after. Completely different staff and so so welcoming. I would stay at the hotel again and go for breakfast, but would dine elsewhere.

Although food was good not quite there, the service was good but no description of food was given had to ask a couple of times as could not remember all courses (7). I was offered the menu to read again but would have expected servers to know ? Overall a nice experience

The cooking here is outstanding. Really great - the tomato butter and the chive butter with home baked bread, crab mouse, pork cheek, turbot - all just insanely good. The only single issue was mange tout that had been cooked and left to go mushy. But apart from that just amazing food. The strange thing comes with the service. It felt like the restaurant had just opened, maybe 2 weeks and was training staff, understanding the till system as we kept getting things we hadn’t ordered arrive, stuff we had ordered didn’t, and all the staff bar the manager seemed uncertain of what to do and when - took 20 mins to get the initial wine and then he forgot the corkscrew, they didn’t have glasses in the bar, and he filled glass to the brim. The wine list was 3 reds and 3 whites, which for a place of this quality was off - they had more choice in the soft drinks than they did wine. So overall, amazing food. When I asked a waitress, she smiled, as they all did, and said no we have been open 3 years…… Go prepared for a warm but chaotic experience and you are sorted.

Fabulous food in the most wonderful setting. Attentive, efficient service and a lovey atmosphere made it a great experience all round.

Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. The surroundings and quality of food was exceptional. I would recommend the experience (next door), the hotel and restaurant/food and would love to return.

We booked for the 7 course tasting menu, but on arrival (long journey for 1 of the party) we were advised that it was not available. Sadly, the daily menu was poor. 1 vegetarian, 1 fish, and 1 meat option (which incurred a £10 surcharge). Having anticipated our evening, this was a huge disappointment. The Food and Beverage Manager was very nice, understood our position, and has offered some champagne on our return visit, which we hope to book soon. Sadly I am unable to recommend The Chapel Restaurant at this time.
