Inutile de parler de la vue imprenable sur le fleuve lorsque vous mangez à l'extérieur ni de la cave du 13ème siècle reconvertie en salle à manger. Inutile de vous ennuyer avec le fait que le restaurant est difficile à trouver. Venez à Durham, cherchez le restaurant, descendez ses marches étroites, soyez surpris par ce qui se trouve en bas et partez en souhaitant avoir découvert le Cellar Door plus tôt. Ce n'est pas l'établissement parfait, ce n'est pas le meilleur au monde, mais il s'efforce d'être le meilleur possible et d'évoluer chaque jour. Alors joignez-vous au voyage!

Table booked for 2pm which was not ready on arrival. 3 groups came in to the restaurant after us and were taken to their tables. I asked the server at around 2.20pm what was happening with our table to eventually sit down at 2.25pm. Ordered 4 Sunday dinners which took over an hour!! The beef was like being out of a packet and lots of fat so most of it was left. After waiting that amount time it was a huge disappointment. Dessert wasn't much better. £8 for 3 profiteroles with not much taste. The other desserts were all dark chocolate based which we didn't want.

Lovely greeting on arrival, staff very friendly and welcoming. Our reservation was at 4pm due to a concert so we were the only people in the restaurant for a little while. I felt a little cold but other than that the restaurant was lovely with nice background music. The food was amazing - we had.3 courses - all delicious. Staff were very attentive and suggested a great bottle of red to go with our food. we couldn’t fault anything. We will definitely return but book a later evening slot next time so there is more atmosphere. So glad we found this place. 👍🏻

We have been here several times for the Sunday roast. Always fantastic never disappointed!

We found the restaurant quite buzzy which was nice. The Beef Shin and Wellington were very very good. A good wine list and good service. We would definitely go back and have no problem recommending the venue.
