Chairs are just a little uncomfortable and price felt just a tiny bit high, but that said, the food was spot on and it’s worth the money to be left without disappointment. Staff were also friendly and everything was timed well. Will be dining here again.

Well managed lovely efficient service and quick from order to delivery. We gad the Sunday lunch and the steak and ale pie, only observation would have been some more veg with the pie.

This place was a really good trip advisor find. It is set in a picture perfect village with lots of character. The food was extremely good quality, we took our kids with us who are a little picky but they also enjoyed the food. I would highly recommend a visit and wish we could have spent more time in the village itself. The outside area is nice with a little stream running behind the pub’s beer garden.

Lovely old pub with excellent food and drink. My husband and I both had the pie which was delicious! We shared the lemon posset for dessert which was stunning. Staff all pleasant and attentive - couldn’t fault the place!

Great food however the fact the booking was advised as a 70th. Birthday breakfast, and the fact i kept receiving emails to ask if i was still attending, the least the pub could have done was notified me the parking was pathetic because races were on. The locals around the pub were hostile but thats no detriment to the pub but it didnt help us to park to get in the pub.

Thank you for your comments. Every race day the whole of Cartmel has a road traffic order placed on it for road safety, The Cavendish Arms has no say on parking in the village on such days as I explained to you on your visit. As you were attending the races you will have received emails from the race course advising you of parking etc on the day. The lady who was celebrating her birthday was so charming to us and received complimentary champagne to celebrate, however, another lady was not as understanding and appeared to use The Cavendish Arms as the scape goat for the day, we were of course, just as polite to her as the other lady but refrained from offering her a complimentary drink. The scallop tartare starter had a scarcity of scallops and the order was for five people so not one person was happy about that. The mains - chicken was very good as was the steak pie.
