Really lovely experiences here. We visited for 3 meals over one weekend! We look forward to our next visit to Cartmel and the Cavendish Arms.

Exceptional chicken dish juicy and tender, lovely asparagus and peas with potato gnocchi couldn’t fault it.

A great pub with rooms, excellent location and great staff. We have been to the Cavendish a few times and find it consistently good - the food and wine choices are excellent. Would definitely recommend.

When we are staying in the lakes - the cavendish is a good place to eat before our journey home - staff are always welcoming and service is fabulous - nothing is too much trouble. If I were to give some feedback - there were a few pesky flies in the restaurant- I would think one of those fly zapper machines would be very useful as this was also the same when we visited last time . We had the steak and ale pie which was delicious and generous - again only a small thing - but I do not like soggy pastry - so maybe have the gravy on the side or in a small jug to serve where you prefer? This didn’t take away the quality of the food - and I’m sure we will be visiting again.

Had roast lamb which was fatty, one small carrot, one small parsnip (which I don’t eat) no cauliflower which was on the menu and a hand full of mange tout, the 2 small roast potatoes were so hard I couldn’t cut them. I don’t like red cabbage so asked for it without but there was still bits of it on my plate. The ‘gravy’ isn’t gravy it’s a jus which isn’t what I expect on a Sunday lunch. Pudding came with raspberry sorbet - I advised I don’t like raspberries so asked for lemon which they duly swapped but the lemon compote was covered in raspberries which wasn’t on the menu description so had to send it back. I asked for the £6.50 glass of Prosecco of which I had two, however when we got the bill we had been charged £9 a glass, when I queried this they said “we’ve only got one” which isn’t what I was told when ordering. Overall disappointing meal/experience.

Thank you for your feed back. I am sorry your were not fully satisfied with your Sunday roast but am pleased to be made aware by my staff others in your party were happy. The "Gravy" is Gravy and we make it fresh each week, The lemon Posset menu description reads "Lemon Posset, Italian Meringue, Raspberry, Sorbet, Short crust Crumb (V) £9. I wonder if you have missed the commas between the wording? However you raise a great point and I will rephrase the wording . I have checked our wine list, It states prosecco is £9 per glass, we do not have any wine in our sparkling section that is £6.50. All our still wines range from £6.75 upwards, however these are all under a different section in our wine list. Thank you for bringing the issue to our attention in order for me to fully explain.

The Cavendish Arms Cartmel is wonderful. Very quaint old pub/ hotel. The food in restaurant is amazing and would recommend the roasted cod.
