Welcome to The Catherine Wheel, Marshfield

A village pub with real ales, great food and accommodation near Bath

The Catherine Wheel is a 17th century country pub in the historic conservation village of Marshfield. It’s just eight miles north of the Roman city of Bath (a World Heritage site) and 13 miles from the port of Bristol, named European Green Capital 2015.

Marshfield stands close to where three county borders meet at Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset. This is at the southern gateway to the rolling Cotswold hills which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our chefs are highly regarded for creating wholesome, freshly-prepared dishes, using local produce as much as possible.

                                              The food at the Catherine Wheel was excellent and good value for money. Unfortunately the service needs some attention. We were left to find our own table and the after a long wait had to ask to see the menu. After a lovely starter and main course the pleasant waiting staff seemed to disappear completely. When they did reappear they proceeded to clear a vacated table before inquiring if we would like dessert. The table next to us were brought main courses while some were still eating starters. I'm sure I would go back as the food and the place is lovely.

                                              We go back time and time again as food is extremely good, especially the pie. The vegetables are fresh and crisp and not frozen. Service is good and staff friendly.

                                              We waited an hour to get are food , no one came over and explained that they where running behind. We were sat at the end of the bio and it was very cold. The food was amazing, quality of the food could not fault at all.

                                              Friendly service, good food and a relaxing dining experience. A very interesting building too. I’ve been for lunch here three times now and it’s always been worth the 40 minute drive.
