The food was great. The service was surprisingly lacking. Took a long time to be able to get a wine list and place an order. Asked to see a dessert menu and it took almost 20 minutes to get it and by the time the server came back to ask if we wanted something our party had to leave. Expected better service for the quality of the restaurant.

As always outstanding food. That’s a given. The service is exceptional and last night was great. Personable, friendly, funny, and we never felt rushed. Filets were cooked perfectly, sides were delicious, and even my espresso was served just the way I requested. A perfect evening!

Tony, Our server, totally deserves a raise. He truly makes the dining experience different at this location and from all other Capital Grille locations and their competitors.

I've been dining at the Capital Grill since the mid-90s in DC, NYC, Stamford, and other locations. The Capital Grill on 42nd St in Manhattan was my mainstay from 2007 until its recent move. And I've been a "generous pour" fan and advocate for years. Well, along with the trademark coupe glasses, oversized martinis, and dark wood bar, you lost me in the move. Firstly, the DIN. Absolutely deafening and chaotically crowded. We arrived early to enjoy cocktails at the bar, but hadn't been there for 10 minutes before the ringing in my ear told me I had permanent hearing loss. And there was no system for people not sitting at the bar to get drinks other than to push in-between and shout at the bar-tenders. We had to take our drink and stand in the foyer just so we could hear each other. And I say "drink" because I kicked back my regular French 75 order for being a cross between disappointment and yucky. Gone are those 'Marilyn Monroe sexy" coupe glasses and the trademark star anise floats on a drink topped with champagne. Instead I was handed a boring restaurant standard (small) martini glass with an overly sweet drink topped with nearly flat prosecco. Same price of course. A big N.O. We finally got seated just slightly after our reservation time (well done on the hostess for keeping things moving on that crazy night...a Wednesday, no less). The dining room was far quieter and very civilized. The new decor is modern and interesting but cold (previous decor was old-fashioned but warm). The new bathrooms are nice (goodbye perpetually leaking faucet in the ladies' room!). The service was Capital Grill's standard of "impeccable". The food was good as ever, despite the mushrooms being undercooked and rubbery. The generous pour was a disappointment. Now $45, the reds were disappointing to say the least. The chardonnay was interestingly "frisky" and the rose was our chosen winner. We got cut off at the end of the night. That's never happened before....

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the wonderful experiences I've had at Capital One. Visiting at least twice a week with my coworker has become a genuine pleasure for us. The food at Capital One is consistently fresh, delicious, and of exceptional quality. We especially enjoy the warm hospitality extended to us by the bartenders, Alfred, Sean, and Adam. Their kindness, charm, and helpfulness have truly enhanced our visits. Thank you once again for providing such a delightful atmosphere and experience. We look forward to continuing to visit and enjoy Capital One.
