The Canteen is a full-service neighbourhood restaurant in Downtown Dartmouth, serving up chef-inspired seasonal fare for lunch, brunch and dinner. At the helm in the kitchen is award-winning chef and co-owner Renee Lavallee. Her seasonal menus are influenced by classic French, Italian and traditional Nova Scotian cuisine – with a little bit of Renée’s magic thrown in. Signature items include The Canteen Burger, The Crobster Roll, Seafood Chowder and more.

    Has a wonderful evening and meal at The Canteen. Service was exceptional for all staff I encountered and our server was outstanding! The meal was fantastic and my friends also really enjoyed every bite of theirs. Highly recommend! .

    Great waitstaff!Delicious food!!Clean appealing decor!Tomato stone fruit salad amazing as well as the chowder and crobster roll Very well done to the owner !

    The food and service were equally amazing. We also had a mixed drink and really enjoyed that as well. Staff were gracious when we showed up earlier than our reservation and helped find us a spot that was available. I had the haddock and my friend had the lobster and crab roll. Both were delicious. I grew up in a fishing community and can tell if haddock is not fresh - this haddock was very fresh and tasty. Prices were not steep and we certainly received value for our money.
