Originally built as the canal warden’s house for this northerly stretch of the water, the pub sprang to life in 2001, when the grade 2 listed portion of the property was sensitively extended. Recently refurbished throughout January 2016 – it’s first make-over since conception – the pub now stands as one of the most beautiful on the Lancashire / southern Lakeland border and is the only hostelry north of Lancaster with a full aspect and picket-fenced terrace alongside, and directly by, the canal. In summer we bring the outside in as our brand new sun lounge boasts floor to ceiling sliding doors that open fully, whilst in winter we go all cosy by way of our two log fires that run continuously. Whatever day or month, be assured a warm welcome awaits you at The Canal Turn.

Booked for special meal for friends who had travelled 60 miles. Not open at 1.00 for 1.15 booking and was told no food today. I had a confirmed booking which I showed I had a confirmation. Left very unhappy. Will never go again. Tried to speak to someone later on phone. I left 2 messages but ignored. What a way to run a business!!. One really angry person.

Overall a very pleasant dining experience, nothing too much trouble for the staff who are very freindly. Excellent food which we all enjoyed. Keep up the good work we will definitely be back !

Lovely place to meet up with family with view over the canal. Staff very helpful and friendly. No pressure to leave, we were there for several hours. We will be back again.

I have stopped here before and service was great and a full menu available. Unfortunately on thus occasion menu was limited and bar staff forgot our drinks order.

Apart from the OpenTable booking not getting to the place. We were looked after well and food was amazing. Service excellent and relaxed. Lived in the area 3 and a bit years now and feel we have been missing out. Will be back 👍
