WHO IS THE BUTCHER'S DAUGHTER?

The Butcher's Daughter is a plant-based restaurant, cafe, juice bar and "vegetable slaughterhouse". We treat fruits and vegetables as a butcher would meat: We chop, fillet and carve fresh produce into healthy vegetarian dishes and press them into pretty juices.

Our daily-changing menu is 100% vegetarian, with many vegan and gluten free options. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. We are currently open for indoor and outdoor dinning, along with take-out and delivery.

Overall, kitchen and service is pretty solid. Noise level is pretty loud but not cacophonous. It was a gorgeous early autumn day so the glass doors were open and there was a great breeze and lovely sunlight which added to the whole experience.

The food was fresh and well cooked. Some of the vegan/vegetarian dishes were not good. The chocolate cake with passion fruit coulis was not good: dry, it disintegrated and it tasted like pure cacao powder. The lemon and grape tart was grainy and cold ( they could have warmed it up to disguise the fact it was old). The tomato scallion scone was heavy and dense. Did they forget to add baking powder? It was for sure not a scone. The place is mainstream. Nothing special.

Food was excellent. Tables are bit crammed together and it was very busy and only had 3 servers working indoor and outdoor combined, so the service was a bit slow. The vibe was great. Beautiful way to spend Saturday brunch.

I always make the effort to get here when I’m in town. On nice days when the front doors open all the way up to outside while sitting on the sofa sides, it’s a beautiful was to start a morning. The press juice flights are amazing and the avo toast is chef kiss. It is a tight space and you’ll get to know your neighboring table easily if you’d like to, so bring headphones or book if you’d rather not. Outside seating is covered so light rain won’t bother you. Smoothies are made fresh on order and are Large! Short half a mile walk to the high line entrance or Chelsea market makes it a great option to start your day and work your way over to Hudson Yard.

Had never been to this location in NYC, typically LA/Venice location which is a bit more lively and better service/food.

Great experience. Fresh food and timely service. My husband and I took our son and daughter, whom are not vegetarians, and everyone enjoyed their meal.
