The afternoon tea was absolutely delicious, all the items were served on time and the staff were kind and attentive. The Botanic Tearoom is really lovely, I think it is one of the nicest I have been to, and I have been to Betty's tearooms.

The setting is lovely, we made a reservation earlier than typical tea time, so we had the room to ourselves. Our servers were just lovely. Informative and friendly. Abby had great recommendations. The room was beautiful and the tea selections were vast. The food was very generous; too much to eat in one sitting. The deserts were beautifully crafted. Overall a wonderful experience. They even did a special dish to recognize my daughter's birthday. Bravo!

We arrived on time but unfortunately our table was not ready. We were given a free glass of Prosecco whilst we waited however we were surprised as it was not particularly busy. We were asked what particular afternoon tea package we required and we advised the one which included the glass of champagne package. The waitress told us that she would bring the glass of champagne over once we had drank our glass of Prosecco. The food arrived and it was lovely and with such a variety of delicate cakes too. Unfortunately we were sitting with our empty glasses before we had to ask for our champagne. There were quite a small amount of fruit flies bothering us, however by the time we had eaten our finger sandwiches there was quite a good amount of them and we were constantly having to wave them away. Unfortunately many of the flies had landed on our scones and cakes so we were unable to eat them. We asked to be moved from our table and the waiter said he would bring our food over, I told him not to as it was full of flies. He did apologise and said he would give us discount when we settled our bill. We waited for a long time for our coffees, eventually I went over to ask for them. At the time of settling the bill we were told due to the problems we encountered it was free of charge. Whilst we sincerely appreciated such generosity we couldn’t help but feel disappointed with our experience.

Fab afternoon tea, nothing was too much trouble and my Friend had a couple of extra cakes provided as it was her Birthday .. such a lovely touch. Service was great too.

Great in restaurant service, food and decor. Let down by the service received before the visit. 1 left message, 1 promised call back and 2 emails not responded to.

Very disappointing. Poor amount of food. Fruit flies constantly flying around the table Ignored by staff. Staff acknowledged flies but no adjustment made. Grossly overpriced. I will never go there again!

afternoon tea for 3. waited to be seated even though tearoom was empty. ordered hot drinks and told unlimited refills, never asked again by the staff if we wanted another drink. Ordered 1 cocktail each and waited 30 minutes for it to arrive! They said it came from the bar which was busy! We were given our afternoon tea on nice place stands, clearly made up at the start of the day as quite stale but good to have decent gluten free selection. The issue with the tearoom was lack of staff. Only seemed to be one at a time and even though not many customers they were just not attentive, never came over to check how the food was or ask if we needed any drinks etc, not once. I had to wander around to find a staff member to ask for water and tea., and when she took the order, she came over 10 mins later to ask 'what tea was it again'!? Tearoom seems to be an afterthought of the hotel and not staffed despite the beautiful room and setting. Just go to the main bar if you want to visit the Municipal Hotel, much better service and absolutely stunning décor

The afternoon tea was very disappointing. Small, tiny fillings on the sandwiches. Only 1 scone and 4 small cakes. I have had afternoon tea in many hotels/venues in Liverpool. This was the poorest.

Kept waiting on phone for over 10 minutes to say we might be delayed as train was cancelled. Various options for reception/ restaurant/booking in etc and nobody answered phone ! We arrived anyway but concerned that we might have been turned away because of lateness. Direct phone number to the restaurant would be helpful assuming someone would answer it 😡
