Please note, guest request are not guaranteed. You can request to be seated on the terrace, but it's not guaranteed as these tables are open to the elements. On a sunny day, tables are allocated outside based on the date the booking was made (early birds!) We will do our upmost to accommodate you outside if we can. Please call us on the day to see where you will be seated as special requests are not guaranteed. We have zero tolerance for aggressive behaviour.

The Boatman, is Windsor’s only pub on the river at the foot of Windsor Castle overlooking Eton Bridge. Serving freshly cooked food all day everyday from midday to 9pm at night, in the cosy bar, restaurant or in the stunning riverside all-weather conservatory, there is a fine selection of wine, ales, cocktails to choose from.
The bar area and terrace is dog friendly, we cannot accept any pets in the conservatory or restaurant.

Food was fine and comparable for the area, however we found the service terrible. We had to ask for tap water three times (on a hot day) and it arrived as we were finishing our main. We had been put on a table in direct sun and asked politely asked if there was opportunity to move (there were loads of tables) and we got told no but after a lot of to and fro they did shut the roof. The atmosphere was awkward, the staff seemed distracted and unenthusiastic.

Great location by the river. I went for a Sunday roast. Food is ok but that’s it. I don’t like the lamb, my portion of meet was small with lots of fat. Potatoes were mostly boiled…maybe roasted for a few minutes. I would go back for drinks, not for a roast.

We were disappointed, we were not told that we had to eat our meal in a certain amount of time. Once we had eaten they told us we needed to pay or bill and move to open area, which we didnt mind. We moved to free open seating area as was told. After ordering a round of drinks we were told we need to finish our drinks as they a needed the table in free seating area. We said this is a joke. What type of restaurant treats it customers this was. There were loads of other tables they could use.

Really disappointed booked 2 weeks ago asked very nicely if we could have a table with view overlooking the Thames Called in for lunch day before was told would make a note of our request but couldn't reserve a specific table when we arrived was sat at a table looking at the pub wall asked the young woman allocating tables if we could move but we're told those tables were " Reserved "It felt as if she was being difficult instead of trying to make our evening enjoyable

My favourite pub in Windsor, as an official Winsor Castle and Blue Badge guide, this really is the go to restaurant where I always bring my clients. Food always excellent, lovely views and excellent staff.

Location perfect Food very good, a little over priced, but good quality and portion sizes. Staff…. Not great. The manager?meet and greet needs customer service training. Very rude, dismissive. I had booked a lunchtime table on a very hot day , when I asked to be sat in the shade, he laughed and said, it’s Friday lunchtime and you booked later than others.

We had excellent seats outside with a lovely view of the Thames. The roast chicken was amazingly tender and full of flavor. We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch!
