A Historical Coaching Inn with Traditional bar and a formal dining room; both with its own character.

We serve a great selection of pub classics, using as much produce from the nearby Ripley Castle Estate & Gardens as possible. Our chefs are constantly inspired to create special dishes to take advantage of the 2000 acre Estate and extensive Walled gardens produce.

We serve a selection of popular local real ales and have guest beers on a regular basis including some rare gems, so there is always a reason to pop into the bar.

There is a well structured and varied wine list suitable for all levels of wine drinker from affordable afternoon drinking through to more powerful and exquisite wines, which can be matched to our dishes to create a full dining experience.

We cater for any number of guests from couples to larger parties, families and dog friendly tables in the bar.

Please note we are unable to reserve tables outdoors.

It was my wife’s birthday the service and attention to detail was first class, the maitre d’ was very friendly and attentive. The food was really good and portions substantial. Would definitely return.

We both had the roast beef dinner which was excellent - hot, tasty and well presented. It was a plateful so we did not leave the table hungry. We were put in the bar but upon arrival were given the choice of eating in the restaurant which we declined. The staff were friendly and polite. We will definitely return!

The food was quality for what you paid for. The restaurant area was good and the service by the lady was awesome - extremely efficient, friendly and polite.

Service from staff was excellent & very nice Sunday lunch, will be back for the steak pie which I’ve heard is great 👍

First time we’d been for an evening meal. Very good menu, pleased to see half portions also available. Food arrived within a reasonable time span, nicely served and hot. Comfortable seating, pleasant staff. There were 6 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Will return.

Best to ask not to be seated in the bar area, we had to be moved because of screaming and out of control children on the next table. Food was good and waiting staff very friendly

Great venue, great food and lovely staff. Always make a fuss of Lola my cockerpoo and bring biscuits (and a sausage too this time!)

Lovely food, excellent service but the table we were seated at was in the corner a distance away from everyone else so we felt a bit disconnected
