A resplendent thatched-roof Inn, located in the heart of Devon, two miles from the coastal town of Sidmouth. With eight recently renovated rooms, the Blue Ball is a snuggly, seaside treat of a place. Locally sourced seafood specials are the order of the day, supplied by renowned Cornish fishmonger Flying Fish, coupled with a well-stocked bar of real ales, liveners & pick me ups! Our cosy corners, eccentric finishing touches and curiosities make for quite the venerable experience. Only heightened by our splendid rear garden which promises to provide a welcome haven.

Far too expensive, £30 for a steak is exorbitant. My drink was wrong and had to be replaced. Guest with me, her desert was also wrong and had to be replaced. Not a great experience.

Table waiting on arrival. Short time to wait for lunch which was well presented and plenty of it. Go there regularly.

We met up with friends today for lunch. The car park was pretty full which was nice to see. Staff were attentive as usual and we chose our meals and drinks and then chatted for a while whilst waiting for food to arrive. Not a long wait about 10 mins I would say what was very annoying was whilst we were eating our meal a chap dressed in black with a small hand held smoke emitting device brushed past us reached up to a smoke alarm on the ceiling above and let off an amount of smoke which came down towards our table not a single word was spoken an excuse me or sorry or what he was doing then he walked off. Then a while later the fire alarm went off and continued sounding for a couple of minutes no one came to explain what was happening I thought this was very rude and could have been done earlier in the day before the premises opened Sadly spoilt our lunch as our conversation was interrupted We left a short time later Not the usual standard at this lovely pub

Thank you for your review, we are so sorry about the man that brushed past you he is not part of my team he is from a company that do our fire alarms. i did say i was not happy on the day to him and told them to come back another day. please don't think that this is my staff they would not do that. we take all reviews onboard. Lovely Sunday roast. Our waitress was particularly good, Alex I think - we’re aware how difficult it is to find good serving staff so she was a delight. Food was 8/10. Belly pork very good. Cauliflower cheese under cooked for our taste. Will definitely return.

We have had lunch at the blue ball several times and have always been very satisfied with the food and the service. We had the meal and a drink deal for £12 and it was a really lovely lunch. The serving staff were very polite and attentive. Thanks to everyone. Keep up the good work.

We were seated away from the bar and whilst it was tidy the area lacked atmoshpere and was drafty. The roast was very plain and lacked a home made quality. It went cold very quickly in the drafty room. Heavily overpriced for the quality

Thank you for your review, on the Sunday you came we started to use our brand new function room that has a bar in it. as we have around 170 covers on a Sunday so we are trying to put people in places as you can see we had table cloths and candles on them tables. to make the experience better.
