A resplendent thatched-roof Inn, located in the heart of Devon, two miles from the coastal town of Sidmouth. With eight recently renovated rooms, the Blue Ball is a snuggly, seaside treat of a place. Locally sourced seafood specials are the order of the day, supplied by renowned Cornish fishmonger Flying Fish, coupled with a well-stocked bar of real ales, liveners & pick me ups! Our cosy corners, eccentric finishing touches and curiosities make for quite the venerable experience. Only heightened by our splendid rear garden which promises to provide a welcome haven.

Me and my wife had Lamb Rump ,which we sent my wife’s back because she could not cut it with a steak Knife it was all fat and grizzle and would just not cut mines was only slightly better but not Passable all in all we will never use the Blue Ball the 2 meals cost £45 .00. Which is a lot for OAP ,we don’t mind if it was nice but it wasAbsolutly Disgusting 😡😡😡😡😡

Thank You for your review, we take all reviews on board. I am a little lost why you haven't mentioned that we did sort out the problem and you chose another dish. Fish and chips I believe, also you did say that your meal was fine, we don't really get a lot of problems with the Lamb rump but as it a butchers cut, their is sometimes a little bit of fat in the cut. but we would normal notice this and cut it out. so once again we are sorry you didn't enjoy your meal but we would of also sorted yours out if you have not said yours is fine. Have usually had a very good roast beef dinner but this week the beef was chewy also had a lot of fat and griselle around the edge. So much gravy on yorkshire pudding which made it soft and soaky. A big disappointment after using your restaurant several times

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Would highly recommend a visit just to try the Shepherds Pie (which came recommended by our server) Lovely traditional pub, looking forward to our next visit!

Overall, providing you think of this as pub food (not restaurant or gastro pub) then it was perfectly decent food and with the "supper club" menu reasonably priced. I was a bit surprised at 7pm to be told that one of the starters on the menu wasn't available and later on one of the beers ran out. Service ranged from an excellent smiling young woman who couldn't have been more helpful to a boy who was clueless - we waited five minutes with our main courses sitting on the table whilst he went to find cutlery and when he returned he said they had run out of knives. After another couple of minutes waiting I just got up and helped myself to some from an unoccupied table nearby. However, we were able to laugh at that - he'll learn! One suggestion I would make would be to maybe serve some creme fraiche with fennel and lemon zest with the smoked salmon. The sourdough was nice and the capers good but it needed something to bring the plate together. The chicken and pasta was lovely but needed a little bit more seasoning. Just a little bit more attention to detail with the food would make a huge difference. Nevertheless we had a nice evening with friends and we would visit again. A big improvement on what the previous owners offered.

Absolutely beautiful food! Perfect location after a day out in Sidmouth, parking opposite the pub and lovely cosy interior. 10/10 would come again.

A truly fabulous Sunday lunch. Absolutely delicious and promptly served. A host of very young but attentive and polite staff, the whole experience was a delight and we have eaten out in many pubs local to Sidmouth during our visit but this certainly ranked the highest with regard to food quality and service. We will certainly return on our next visit - outstanding!

We had the Burger and the Scottish Loch trout with buttered greens and salted potatoes , followed by cherry compote with coconut ice-cream, both excellent . Service was excellent, looking forward to the next time.
