The Blue Ball team offer a warm welcome to one and all at the Blue Ball Inn, a fine turn of the 17th Century thatched pub and restaurant with accommodation in Sandygate on the edge of Exeter Devon.

Considered to be one of the prettiest pubs in the area, the Blue Ball Inn is the ideal location should you wish to visit us for a glass of wine, a pint of traditional real ale, a tasty bar snack or an enjoyable lunch or evening meal in our delightful restaurant. Inside, you will find a relaxed ambiance full of style and comfort with its cosy interior. During the cooler months the real log-burning fire creates a lovely atmosphere whilst in warmer months you can sit outside in our beer garden which enhances this charming restaurant and pub watering hole.

Our head chef takes real pleasure in cooking culinary delights and delicacies using Devon's finest produce that always reflects the season of the year.

The service was excellent and the food was of a high standard. One small criticism was the addition of cauliflower cheese as an extra on the menu at a cost of £1.75 per portion. This arrived as a desert size spoonful of mashed cauliflower and did not represent the same value or standard as the rest of the meal

Good food and service even with training new staff. New dining areas are excellent. Towards end of meal slightly spoilt by very noisy customers.

We stayed one night as an overstop on our way to Cornwall. I must say that it was a very wise decision to stay at the Blue Ball. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were all brilliant. The ambience ,food and comfort were all exemplary. My wife said that she had the best night's sleep for ages. It must have been due to a couple of glasses of Rosé. We will certainly return.

Pub was incredibly busy but staff were wonderful, great service and food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing.

Service great. Very friendly. Food was very tasty ample portions. One slight gripe….. I had the Thai curry and although it was well presented and flavorful the portion of actual curry was small. Other than that it was a lovely dining experience.

Met with friends for a mid week lunch. Food was good quality pub grub. Staff very attentive and nice ambience. Plenty of parking. Will definitely return.

I had eaten at the Blue Ball 3 times previously and had a wonderful experience, with both the service and food being excellent. I recommend it to my friends and we booked to celebrate 3 of our birthdays, service was awful, food was really over cooked, my butter chicken burger was black, I didn’t send it back, as I wasn’t prepared to wait another hour and a half for another. When table was finally cleared, no dessert menu was offered, I once again had to go to the bar and ask, just as I had for the meal menus, I also had to ask twice for the bill. I was embarrassed that I had suggested to go there.

Hi Anonymous - Thank you for your feedback and I can only apologise that we fell short on this occassion for you. We were unprecendently busy yesterday and although this is no excuse, having been to us previously x3 times before and it been excellent, you will know that our customer service is generally on point and that both our front of house and back of house teams do their very best to deliver a great guest experience. I assume you would have left us glowing reviews for these previous excellent visits but am saddened that on the one occasion we didn't get it quite right for you, you didn't speak to us / contact us directly and give us the opportunity to rectify the situation and instead reviewed us anonymously, where we can't even reach out to you personally and try to put this right.
