The Blue Anchor is a super spot to ‘moor up’ for a few hours - with locally sourced ingredients and freshly cooked food, delicious drinks and friendly service on offer.

With the pub close to Ashdown Forest and set within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it’s the perfect place for walkers to find respite and refreshment - and it’s a dining destination in its own right too, thanks to our homemade food.

Quality of the service and the food was overtaken by a large party in situ; sat down at 1 but not fed till till 1:45, difficult for 97 year old parents. Food was tasty but the fish was slightly overcooked. Might be nice to have a smaller portion option for the pub classics… dar too much food for average appetites.

Food great 👍 I had baby aubergine dish which was stunning so tasty my son had “god” of burgers and my husband couldn’t finish his chicken burger we totally recommend this pub

Very pleasant garden to sit in while we ate. Service was excellent. Menu choice was ok. Cider battered fish nice - more batter than fish though! Would visit this pleasant pub again

I enjoyed my visit although I think the food quality & selection has reduced since my last visit two years ago I was disappointed with the vegetarian options ( only a roast or halloumi). Service was very good. It was a Sunday afternoon & extremely busy & loud which detracted from the experience. I did have slightly higher hopes after my first visit. Overall an ok Sunday lunch.

We do try and accommodate all needs as much as possible but due to our regular menu changes we now have multiple vegetarian options, including both smaller plates and main dishes. The food was tasty - and hot. We had fish and Chips and roast beef. The only problem was my father's plate.it had too much gravy on it and the Yorkshire pudding was so large he couldn't find the meat below it. There was so much gravy that the dinner flowed onto the table whenever he tried to out into the mountainous pudding. He ended up leaving most of the meat and vegetables. Perhaps a smaller pudding?

Varied & unusual menu and the food lives up to its billing, very tasty and vegetables were very fresh. Service was impeccable from a youngish staff, great to see. Exterior and the interior decor feel a bit tired and not sure about the fairy lights but certainly worth another visit for the quality and variety of food on offer.

Really good fish and chips! Generous portion size and very well cooked. Would happily recommend. Thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch.
