The Black Penny Covent Garden is a unique cosy café, with bare brick walls, only a stones throw away from Covent Garden. Gourmet brunch is at the heart of what The Black Penny is famous for. Signature dishes include 'The Hunter' & 'The Gatherer', which is our take on the full English breakfast. Other signature dishes include 'Wild Mushroom Polenta Hash', 'Salt Beef' and 'Crispy Duck' hashes (try pairing with some of our fine wines and Penny cocktails). If you fancy something sweet try 'The Brioche French Toast'. Speciality coffee created at the hands of the skilled baristas is what keeps regulars coming back for their daily caffeine fix. In the mornings through lunch you can expect The Black Penny to be a popular go to café. food was cold, egg tasted good but was cold. Sourdough was rock hard. Disappointed

Saturday morning brunch really set us up for the day. The extra tables outside meant we could enjoy the summer weather. Food excellent (we had bubble and squeak but with scrambled eggs, so tasty) and unexpected bonus, 2 for 1 on drinks meant delicious fresh mimosas.

What a fabulous little hidden gem of a restaurant this is, food was amazing! Service was spot on too!

Always a great spot for brunch. Particularly love their vegan options. The Black Penny beans are amazing. Delicious coffee as well. Staff are polite and attentive, and the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed.

Make sure you book if you want to eat here, so glad we did as it was busy! Food was absolutely stunning, I can’t wait to go back for more…which may be a while away as we live in Cardiff! Would highly recommended, only negative was there is only one toilet!! Mimosa was delicious…go try it out for yourself!!
