So good we went back twice! What a great little find. We loved everything about it and wish our village pub was like this.

Lovely venue for Sunday lunch. Food was excellent & there was plenty of it. Friendly staff as well which added to the overall experience.

Thank you for our Sunday lunch yesterday 19/5/2024 .. Special thank you to the young man Jake who served our food . Very friendly . Food was also nice , however if there was also an offer of stuffing for all meals ,that would have been good . Thank you again .x. 🙂

The food was good and there was an extensive menu. A good old fashioned historic pub in the Town Centre. Service was only fair, the staff could do with being a little more welcoming and developing more enthusiasm! Expected prices for a Sunday lunch.

This was our first visit and I had booked a table in advance. On arrival it was pretty quiet and the young lady that greeted us was very nice but then she passed us over to someone else and said she had to shoot off. It was a bit of an awkward welcome but fine. We were seated in the snug which was lovely and our son was happy they had a choice of games that we could play. Our drinks order was taken swiftly along with our food order not long after. We didn't have to wait long for our meals and the food was beautiful. My husband and I had the duo of meats, it was very nice and I would recommend. Our son got a children's chicken dinner but it came out as a chicken thigh which wasn't great with the bone. I don't think we've ever had a children's dinner served on the bone. Overall the food was lovely though. The only thing that let this down was that once they started to get busier no one came back over to see if we wanted any more drinks or a dessert. Our plates weren't cleared away and I had to go and find someone to ask for our bill. He said he would bring it over but never did. We waited again, still with our empty plates on the table and in the end got our coats on to leave and I had to find another person to pay. I'm not sure if they didn't have enough staff in or what the issue was but it let it down slightly. We would go back for the food though and to give it another try, hopefully experience slightly better service.

Sunday Lunch- beef was overcooked and dry, pork also overcooked and burnt. On discussing afterwards, we realised one if party did not get any mashed potato. The brownie of the mini dessert was like a brick (? Heated up on too high in the microwave). Ice cream was requested with a min brownie dessert- it came with nothing, the custard was provided. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice surroundings and ambience but the actual food let the experience down.

This is probably our favourite pub in Richmond for a drink but we were sadly disappointed with the Sunday lunch we had. The mash was barely warm which surprised me as sure we were the first meals that day. There wasn’t a lot of gravy on the plate and we were charged for extra. I paid £1 more for duo of meats. Normally this means you get a bit more. Not here! My partner had pork and got two large pieces of loin. I got one of those and one small slice of beef so I had less than my friends who had either beef or pork for cheaper. The veg was a small offering of two not crispy roast potatoes and a small amount of savoy cabbage which was very tough a few peas and some leak. It was a small plate and more what I would expect as a child or OAP option. We were the only table seated in the front of the pub until a lady and her mother sat close by. The young girl serving said to them she would leave them to get settled and come to get their drinks order. She then stood chatting round the corner occasionally vanishing upstairs. After 20 minutes I said to the ladies I think you have been forgotten to which they said yes we will go elsewhere and left. Another 5 minutes later and the girl passed again to go upstairs and clearly got a shock as she double backed and stood looking at the empty table as if they had vanished into thin air. We left and later visited the Town Hall which had every table eating and the food looked amazing for certainly less than we had paid. When I booked on here I’m sure you asked if it was an occasion so I said it was my birthday as it was on Sunday. This had no significance at all on my visit so I’m not sure why you ask it unless you plan to make something of it

Very friendly staff. Excellent pub food and very good value for money. We really enjoyed our evening and it set us up well for walking on the Coast-to-Coast Path.

The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome and relaxed. I couldn’t stay for breakfast but offered me a bacon sandwich to take away, which was really kind. I didn’t take her up on the offer but wish I did ( next time) The room was clean but shabby paint work. And furniture old hat. Bedding and beds were beautiful and clean. I would definitely stay again.
