Having visited many times before , we were left disappointed this time. The food took along time to come out. When it did the waitress brought it out one plate at a time with at least 2-5 mins gap. There was 9 of us. Half of the food was cold. The meat pie very chewy. The roast that my daughter had , had cold veg, a tiny stuffing ball which was like concrete and was inedible, And a tiny leg of chicken. It was such a shame. However The staff are lovely and they did not charge us for the roast and removed the service charge. I hope this was a just a one off

Have visited a few times now and always great food, great service and friendly. Try to visit when in the area and have not been disappointed with anything about the place. A great welcoming pub.

We were extremely disappointed with our visit to the Black Horse. The quality of food was very poor and the tables were grubby and sticky.

We have been coming here periodically for a Sunday Roast for some time and certainly rated as one of the best locally both for food, service and value for money. As usual there was a warm welcome. Service was good and food really great quality. For a restaurant roast there is always plenty of meat however we were a little disappointed to only get two roast potatoes? It seems they have also taken their legendary cauliflower cheese off the menu which is disappointing. I would absolutely always recommend this gem of a pub for dinner but please please bring ack the cauli cheese!! ;-)

Spent Easter day in this delightful pub, first time here , will definitely be back service was great as we're the waitresses. The good was exceptional nothing was too much trouble looking forward to coming back.

Great family gathering with good quality, plentiful food in a family pub. Service was excellent and we loved our private room.

We had been told to try this out with the new owners in place. Was very disappointing, food was OK, glasses were dirty and would not rush back which is a shame because it is a nice location and the staff were nice.

The lady who served us was absolutely brilliant. Such a lovely person who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. She deserves to be told. Delicious home cooked food. Would recommend this pub to everyone. Particularly the staff and the chef as well with special dietary requirements.

This pub used to be much better. Seems to have gone down hill of late. Not sure the reason but I hope they turn it around

The menu is completely different from what they show on their website. I was drawn by the advertised menu choices, therefore the booking. It is Not just a matter of seasonal menu change, but a completely different menu. The choices are very limited. You would have thought you have visited the wrong place! I think it is very misleading! The sausage and mash only has 2 sausages, mash, gravy with some frozen peas. It costed £17. It was advertised with Yorkshire pudding. When we asked about the Yorkshire pudding, we were told that it’s underneath the mash. However, there was none underneath. We did tell the waitress who was friendly, but was told they did not make Yorkshire pudding that day. Mind you it’s 1.30pm on a Saturday. I ordered panini but was served with a baguette. When asked, they said they did not have panini. Again, you would have thought they would inform you in advance rather than giving an answer after you discovered the issue yourself. So before giving it up totally, I asked if their dessert is homemade, of which I was told it is! With braveness, I ordered their crumble of the day - peach and strawberry crumble. It was with 2 blackened strawberries, some tinned peach and some soggy bread which supposed to be crumble on top! Needless to say it’s rather disappointing! One piece of advice is that if you are not good with animals, don’t even think about this place. I booked a table in the room where they claimed to be “no dog allowed”. However, during the middle of our meal, a dog came in without warning. I was laughed by other diners because I jumped onto my seat as the dog came to our table. Overall, misleading advertisement (menu), food is overpriced and not served with what you ordered without warning. Food is very mediocre! I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone unless improvements are done!
