The Black Grape - a new small plate restaurant located on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Expect small plates, wine & good times in a stunning setting. This custom designed wine bar & restaurant is the ideal setting for intimate date night dining, drinks with friends or a quick snack as you people watch in the heart of the city. Our menu is a gastronomic tour de force with inspiration from around the globe. One thing unites all our dishes however - bold, punchy flavours and plates that are perfect for sharing. Was an amazing dinner. Food was delicious and the staff could have not been nicer. Took some locals who had not been before who are definitely going back.

We had an excellent experience at the black grape. The staff were phenomenal. The food was excellent. The customer service was way beyond what we were expecting. I think when we initially read the reviews we were somewhat concerned that this rest wasn’t booked on the Saturday. It is a complete mystery to me why that is. It is one of the best restaurants in that area of Edinburgh.

Menu is similar to tapas so the intention is to share dishes. Up to a point that works fairly well though some dishes are quite small and one doesn’t know which until they arrive. Each dish is well created, but given that you choose one or more from each part of the menu, there isn’t a large choice. Most of the dishes are quite creative and therefore take time to produce, adding to the cost and impacting on “value for money”. In contrast, I had the pavlova which was huge! The meringue was rather chewy and mint was a bit overwhelming. The staff were very friendly and helpful and food was delivered promptly. A bit on the noisy side if there happens to be a large party, otherwise a very pleasant venue

I went to this place twice and both times I had a great experience with the food and service. They have amazing oysters. Also their food is excellent! The place doesn’t look so fancy but food and service much better than in some fancy restaurants in Edinburgh or London. Thank you Hugh and Fabrisio for making my experience so enjoyable. Your friendliness and hospitality made me feel very comfortable like home :) Highly recommend this establishment!

First, hats off to the manager and his staff. Great team turning out very good food and serving their clients very well. This resto takes a shared plate approach and we enjoyed that. We worked out with our server the right pace for us and the food was delivered in just that way. We didn't want to be rushed and we were not. The choice is dishes is excellent. The wine list is truly interesting and has some listings that one would not ordinarily expect, e.g. a red wine from the country of Georgia. It, and many others, were available by the glass or bottle. We ended up with a very nice white Rioja which we'd gladly have again. The one problem this resto does have is noise. Its two rooms have nothing but hard surfaces and that combined with lots of diners and the insufferable and unnecessary music really takes the place down a notch in my view. With this issue fixed, I'd give it five stars.

Amazing and welcoming. Couldn’t do enough for us. Let us sit outside under a heater and bagged a table inside for us also. Cocktails tailored to us also. Food and wine was amazing. Thank you soo much xx
