A classic British pub in the heart of the countryside, close to Castle Coch. We offer a selection of ales, ciders and lagers for the thirsty mountain biker. We pride ourselves on home cooked meals with fresh, local produce - our chips have been rated the best in South Wales! With a range of menu items to please every appetite, including our chefs specials that change daily, The Black Cock Inn offers a warm and friendly welcome to those travelling by foot, car or bike!
We have a dog friendly bar area, as well as an outdoor play park and plenty of seating in our beer garden, perfect for the "sunny" Welsh weather.

45 minute wait for food. Service was intermittent. Good from the female staff member useless from the male staff member. Given starters but no cutlery. For mains only given a fork each. I wouldn’t rush back.

One person in our group was gluten free and they had nothing to accommodate her, not even chips or jacket potatoes she had to have gammon with potato skin and they didn’t knock anything off our bill for this either, so that was disappointing But the food was amazing other than this.

Easy table booking. friendly staff, good service, great food with a nice selection of ales. Dog friendly which we appreciate Will be back again soon.

The food was good and a nice choice of meats was available for the Sunday roast. There is a lovely choice of drinks and the vent is nicely decorated. We visited to celebrate a birthday in the family. The service sadly was very poor, staff didn’t seem to know who to serve, orders were very slow in being taken and our dessert order went missing. After waiting for half an hour we were asked if we wanted to order dessert to which I replied that we already had. We were told the order had gone missing and most of what we had ordered for dessert was no longer available so we left extremely disappointed.

Food very nice & staff pleasant enough, however we did not leave a tip as a few things fell short of reasonable expectations. 1. We weren’t told about the Specials, I only noticed these on the blackboard on the way out. 2. One of our drinks didn’t arrive so had to ask for it again. 3. We weren’t offered a dessert menu. 4. No-one came around to offer the bill. We weren’t in a rush however because we weren’t offered desserts or anymore drinks, being quite thirsty this was a bit of an uncomfortable wait. I eventually had to ask for the bill and extra water before we left.

Great place to celebrate a birthday or a quiet meal for two. Great food choices from main menu and specials board. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent value for money
