The Birdcage is a fantastic, town-centre pub in the beautiful harbourside town of Brixham, Devon. Situated on the corner of New Road, the Birdcage is opposite Brixham Theatre and sits right at the heart of the local community. Formerly known as the Bolton Hotel, the pub occupies a Grade II listed building and has been on the site since the 19th Century. We're proud to offer a menu packed with the most appetising dishes. Our passion for taking traditional pub classics and making them the best around by using the most decadent of ingredients, makes every meal served have you coming back time and time again!

Really good pub, went to watch the football and have some food, atmosphere was good, food was lovely and everything was good value. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

what a shame. new owners so really wanted this to be good. Sunday lunches ordered and all 3 chicken dinners weren't cooked. Blood seeping all around the bone. Server said they are cooked it's just a different supplier and it's got veins 🥴 luckily spotted before consumed Lady took back and i had the beef which was just ok. no offer of refund or apologies just kept telling us it was cooked 😡

Hi Paulajean, Thank you for your review, I appreciate you taking time to give feedback. I am so sorry that your experience here with us was not a positive one. Everything is still new to us here so we have taken everything you have said and hope to learn from it. From immediate effect the chicken thigh has been removed from our roast dinner and our chef will be ensuring that he checks all meat thoroughly to prevent anything like this happening again. I just hope that once we are a bit more settled you will give us a second chance. I apologise again and wish you all the best. Stevie @ The Birdcage

It was ok but not the best Sunday roast I've ever had. I can tell it wasn't fresh food and table next to us had uncooked chicken. So kind of put me of my dinner.

We are disappointed and very sorry to hear that you were not happy with your meal and I completely understand how the experience of the table next to you would affect you. I wanted to reassure you that we have, with immediate effect, removed the chicken thigh from our roast dinners to ensure this does not happen again. We went for Sunday Roast and it was lovely. Maybe more expensive than most pub roasts, but definitely worth the money. We could ot fault anything. Will definitely be going again.

Great proper pub food with a touch of elegance. Great atmosphere and service. Brilliant selection of gins and some proper beer.

Doors were open, but that was it. No lights, no staff, not even a hello from anyone. We waited 30 mins and left. Such a shame as last few times we had food there, it was really good and staff were lovely

My first visit to the Bird Cage and I wasn't disappointed. I came mainly for the live Blues music, but ate beforehand and both the food and music were great. And one of my party won a raffle prize! I will be coming again.

Lovely place to eat. Attentive staff member who ensured we had everything we needed. Even acknowledging my sons dogs with treats. Will definitely return next year
