In 1960, R. J. “Bob” Lee opened The Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo Texas on Route 66, the “Mother Road”. It’s distinctive architecture soon became recognized across the Mother Road as a good stopping place for great steaks grilled over an open flame. The Big Texan is famous for the FREE 72oz steak challenge, which includes eating a salad, baked potato, shrimp cocktail and 72 ounces of beef! Stop in and have a one of a kind experience with large, juicy steaks, cowboys and cowgirls, and take a dive into the Old Wild West!

We had one of the most unpleasant dining experiences ever at the Big Texan Steak Ranch. The food was okay, but the service was very bad. Our order was wrong, meals were swapped between diners, food was cold, and our server tipped the plate and spilled steak grease all over my foot, ruining a brand new pair of shoes. The manager did make a fairly significant reduction to the bill, but not enough to pay for a new pair of shoes. Won't be back.

We had an amazing dinner…as usual! I have been here many, many times and tonight’s dinner was great. Started the meal with a large order of fried mushrooms and the order was HUGE! Then had a salad and the large 10 oz filet that was cooked perfectly. Jennifer was a very attentive waitress. Another great meal at The Big Texan Steak Ranch!

Place itself is awesome but the Prime Rib is way to salty. I had to send it back.
