The food was good, but the portions were on the small side. The restaurant adds a 3.5% charge to every bill to "help offset rising expenses." This is mentioned somewhere in the fine print on the menu. Why don't they just raise the prices on the menu instead. That would be the honest thing to do.

This was Octoberfest. There was live music advertised for Thursday, Friday and Saturdays throughout the event. On Saturday, September 14th there was no live music. The food and beer was great as always but we did not receive the ambiance that was advertised and expected. Piffle!!

This 125+ year family-owned restaurant is an institution in Chicago. The service was prompt, friendly,everything I’d hope for. In the midst of Octoberfest, the atmosphere was lively, though we were seated the perfect distance from the bar, able to enjoy the live music, but still able to carry on a conversation. Unfortunately the food was not as good as I remembered it from past experiences, good but it didn’t wow me.

Very nice evening, excellent service, and really nice food. The atmosphere was very nice too with the authentic German musicians.

Restaurant charged us for a beer they no longer had in stock. Poor waiter couldn’t get his manager to reverse charge and credit my card. Waiter was going to pay me out of pocket because his boss was angry with him since they were busy and couldn’t handle the error as an adult manager. Felt bad for the employee, not impressed with management. I was excited about eating at Berghof since my last visit was in 1978 as a young college student. This will also be my last, wouldn’t recommend…

The Watermelon salad was one of the best salads I've ever had. The potato pancake appetizers were unique and delicious. Service was very good.

Needed to change reservation time and app wouldn't connect to allow it but the restaurant was very accommodative.

We ordered our appetizers and mains at the same time along with our drinks. After abour a 40 minute wait all the foid arrived at once (appetizers and mains) but still no drinks. Most of us had finished our meals before the drinks finally arrived. We complained to the manager and they gave us the drinks for free but overall a terrible experience
