The restaurant is named after America’s most famous founding father, Benjamin Franklin. While he was pinnacle in America’s birth, he also became the first ambassador to France. While on trips to Paris, he would wine and dine with the best of them and when he returned, he would bring back the French culture, food and wine, and share it with our new nation. Dishes like Potato Lyonnaise and Crème Brulée were the first of his favorites he shared with America. The Benjamin reflects that bridged gap between the two countries’ cultures. The restaurant and bar is french-inspired, but uniquely American. It sits in Ridgefield's historic district in a 1875 house, but the interiors are modern, elegant and new. Chef prepares dishes like Mussels, Foie Gras, Shrimp Toast, Chicken, Halibut, Duck, and more.

    Experience was top notch, couldn’t have of asked for better. Staff was on top of everything and was very respectful, food was amazing and extremely tasty. Ambience was great and noise level wasn't too loud.

    We were there for a celebration and it was excellent and fun! The ambience is the perfect balance of casual elegance. Everything was delicious. Highlights were the olive oil poached halibut, perfectly roasted duck breast, and desserts. The pastry chef is an award winning artist. Desserts are innovative and satisfying. Especially the creme brulee and the Benny Bar.

    Great food and service. A little bit loud, but may have been the woman with shrieking voice at the table near us.

    The warmth and vibrancy of this restaurant is something that can be felt the moment you walk in. The experience was 5 stars at the prices you’d expect to pay but unlike being in NYC nothing felt priced “egregiously”. We sat upstairs and the service was attentive without being overbearing. There were two different people at the host stand when we came in and when we left and both were so enthusiastic with our presence that it really made us want to come back soon. The food was delicious and carefully prepared. Feels like a great place to celebrate with friends and for other special occasions.

    We started our evening with a wonderful drink at the bar, where the bartender was fantastic. This great start unfortunately did not carry over to our dining experience in the dining room. We ordered two appetizers: the tartare and the pork belly. Unfortunately, the pork belly was extremely overcooked and resembled a dry pork chop rather than the tender dish we expected. The tartare, on the other hand, was disappointingly flavorless. For our main courses, I chose the short ribs, while my husband had the halibut. Sadly, my short ribs were served at room temperature, and my husband described his halibut as merely adequate. To make matters worse, our waiter never returned to check on us during the meal. When he finally came back after we were finished, he offered us dessert, which we declined. He then handed us the check on his order pad, and after what felt like an eternity, I had to flag him down to actually retrieve the bill. Overall, our experience was very disappointing, especially considering we spent over $400. We had high hopes based on our initial drink, but the food and service fell far short of expectations.

    Fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in they were friendly, professional, and accommodating. Great ambiance and the food was terrific - especially the pork chop. We will be back.

    What a beautiful setting! The restaurant is so pretty. Our server was great - very attentive and even gave me a special treat with dessert that was part of another dessert that sounded so great. We started with the bread service. The bread itself was so fresh & flavorful. The accompanying 3 butters were great, but especially the smoked paprika and honey. OH. MY. GOODNESS! We took leftover butter home with bc it was that good! We each had a cocktail, which were well made and good sizes. For appetizers, I had a delicious salad with squash & pomegranates. My husband started with the pork belly, which he said was very flavorful. For entrees, my husband had the short ribs. It was a small portion, but he loved every morsel. He said he would have liked a larger cut of meat, however. He ended up eating the remaining fish that I had left over from my entree, which was the sole meuniere. This was a good size portion, but unfortunately, I found it very greasy and it was somewhat off-putting. The cauliflower puree was good, as was the spinach that came with it. But they overly greasy texture of the fish was not very good. Next time I would go for a different fish option, but the fish special sounded very similar. For dessert we shared the creme brulee, which was excellent. One of the best we've ever had! All in all, we will be back again.
